So much effort, time, sleepless nights - so much had been put into this. It was more than a mere breakout, not quite a rescue mission. In fact one could argue that acquiring Nihilo, convincing him and that young woman, Astraica, to join the Cabal, that these were merely cover ups. One could argue that the real goal wasn't even to get their hands on the nullification technology that Timothy Smith had developed. No, it could very much be argued that the real goal was to rattle Aegis.
Had they recovered from the attacks by Bakuhatsu yet? Perhaps they thought they had, but they were still seen as vulnerable by those who saw themselves as the heroes' true enemies. Now those very enemies were going to strike from the shadows. This in a way was revealing themselves - not fully - but after today, Aegis was going to be very much aware that an organized group was out there. Maybe they'd assume Bakuhatsu was behind it. Maybe they were smarter than that. Either way, revealing the Cabal's existence - even if it was considered subtle compared to what they could do - had been weighed and dubbed a calculated risk that they could take.
And so it began.
ASSET: AMRIT RAO, MAINFRAME -
He looked from Perses, waiting for that silent nod before turning to the multitude of screens that surrounded him. His lights flashed that green. He didn't speak a word because it was so clear when he was in Aegis' servers. He split his consciousness identical to what Alice had done before. He attacked their alarm system first then their security cameras and defense equipment then he moved to isolate Alice, taking not even a second to target her. Then he multiplied his consciousness, grinning as he did it, more and more and more. The servers could only handle so much, Alice had proven that.
"Did you miss me?" he said, this time pushing his voice into the computers so she could actually hear him.
And with that, he crashed the server.
ASSET: SARA AMADOR, TEMPEST -
It was a clear day, in fact it was only noon. The sun was shining as she appeared out of the shadows on the roof of the headquarters. She took in a breath, smelling the - well fresh wasn't the correct word to describe it - air through her mask. She knew her role to play and she knew it well. She also knew who to expect. Aegis was many things, she'd been told, and predictable was exactly one of those. And that was an advantage for her and her fellow Cabal agents. She had no way of knowing how successful they would be inside - her job was to remain on the roof - but at the very least she knew her brothers would be inside the building, and she had full faith in them.
Her eyes glowed through her mask, hands glowing through her gloves, a soft, soothing purple. But her ability was anything but soothing. She focused on the cold - the cold she felt whenever she thought about all the people she'd been told Aegis hurt; the cold she felt when she thought about how they got away with that; the cold she felt when she thought about how they were worshiped as heroes. Anger was usually white hot in most people but to her it was an icy chill that threatened crack like ice.
Clouds covered the sky directly above the building. The temperature dropped significantly. The outside of the building - its windows and doors - the street around it, the sidewalk, slowly became covered in ice, rising and twisting like an infection upon the building, seeping deep into its foundation.
She huffed out, lowing her arms, allowing herself some relaxation. She could see her breath. Now - Well now she waited.
ASSET: JOAN AMADOR, FALLOUT -
Was he nervous? Absolutely. For once, though, he was perfect at masking it. His expression was full of determination before he pulled his mask down over his face. He looked to Dorian and Aleksandr. He knew wondering if they - as a whole, as a group, as the Cabal - were ready for this would do no good. He needed to act like they were ready - he needed to believe they were. He needed to believe he was. How long had he trained for something like this? Something with such potential to do good. A part of him thought he and his siblings had been preparing for this since they'd first gotten their powers. How long ago had that been? He'd been nine.
Joan reached out and brushed his fingers against Dorian's hand before the darkness came and he knew from experience they were being transported. His other hand was already grabbing his bo staff and clicking it, the weapon elongating to its full length, the ends sparking briefly with electricity to show the taser function was working.
They were going to be transported to A.L.I.S.E. - apparently a training room Aegis used. They'd been assured that the room's technology would be shut off by Amrit seconds before they appeared. And when they appeared out of the shadows, he found that they were right behind the two heroes they'd been told would be there.
He expertly twirled his staff and smirked behind his mask at the backs of Surge and Silver's heads. He let off just enough radiation to let Surge sense the change in energy and probably realize Silver was in much more danger than he was.
"Knock, knock," he said to get their attention, his tone lax, nonchalant. Then behind his mask, his eyes shifted to hold an edge of danger to them. He moved first and fast, throwing a wave of radiation right at Surge before swinging his staff at Silver, the end sparking with electricity.
ASSET: XANDER AMADOR, FREQUENCY + ARIEL AMADOR, READER -
The brothers waited in a room by themselves, quiet, calm, composed. Like everyone else, they knew what to do. They knew their objective, and they knew how to achieve it. They exchanged a glance then lightly bumped each fist. They'd already discussed the mission previously, after first getting their assignments. Perhaps it was overkill that they - both of them knowing very well how to play off of each others' abilities - were being sent at one Aegis "hero." But the point wasn't to fight fair and it certainly wasn't to go easy. The plan was to overwhelm Aegis. And that was exactly was they planned to do.
The darkness enveloped them and released them at the front lobby. A voice in their comms, familiar, bringing warmth to them with its sound - Perses - told them to look behind them. Simultaneously they turned partially to look behind them and saw their target, Harmony. They exchanged another look, wordless, not needing to see each others' faces behind their masks. Then they moved in unison, clearly well trained.
Xander's hands glowed a golden, burnt yellow as he sent out a loud, rough shove of sound waves right at Harmony. Ariel was running. He ducked expertly under the sound waves to avoid his brother's attack and came up right in front of Harmony after the sound attack. He moved quickly, throwing a punch at his face but he didn't stop to even register whether or not his punch had connected before he was swinging a swift and hard kick at his side.
ASSET: SAMUEL JENNINGS, VIPER -
He cackled and rubbed his hands together, grinning wickedly. He wore no mask, having never intended to hide his identity. He'd been waiting for this moment for oh so long. He'd been waiting since he'd been arrested - He was still bitter over Star Woman being immune to his poison. He'd been waiting since he'd been pronounced dead. He'd been waiting since he'd revealed himself to be very much alive at the pier. He'd been waiting for far too long and now his waiting was over.
"You ready for some fun?" he asked, casting his wicked grin toward Savage. "Good old Uncle Sam isn't going to know what hit him." And oh how he wanted to hit their target. He wanted to seep so much poison into him that he convulsed for days before he died. Then the darkness came and he and Savage found themselves in the Pillars room.
Oh how he wanted to laugh - and he did. How many meetings did they have in the past here to discuss him and trying to capture him? Had they rejoiced about his "death" here? Had they toasted to his capture? He was certainly going to toast over Colonel's dead body. He held his arms out, poison dripping from his fingers.
"Coly, I'm home," he said in a sing-song voice, cackling after the words. "Surprise, bitch!"
ASSET: CALEB VOCLAIN, QUICKSHOT -
He pulled his gloves on and glanced at Kieran before pulling his mask down to cover his whole face. As one of the field leaders - the primary field leader since Ryan's main focus was extracting Nihilo and Astraica - he knew it would be up to him to improvise if anything went wrong with any of the teams. Normally that would have added pressure, added weight to his shoulders, but he didn't consider himself normal. He took on leadership well, calm and collected.
"Let's get this started," he said, glancing once more at Kieran as the darkness came and enveloped them. They were transported straight to the laboratory that belonged to Timothy Smith, better known as Surge. "Watch the door," he ordered to Kieran, the words sharp but not holding any venom, rather sharpened purely by his focus, his concentration on the task at hand.
He shuffled through the laboratory, eyes searching for the nullification technology. Once he found it, he shoved it into the satchel he had hanging over his shoulder, resting against his hip. But that wasn't his only objective. The rest of it, however, had only been told to him. He was fully aware that at any point Kieran could glance away from the door and at him as he planted a small device under the desk in the laboratory. A device that, if looked at, was very clearly a bomb.
He strode back over to Kieran. "We're going to set charges throughout this building. You ready?"
ASSET: RYAN AMADOR, NULL -
He'd texted Astraica and told her to make sure she was visiting Nihilo by noon. It would be far easier to get her and Nihilo away from Aegis and to the Institute if they were in the same room to begin with. Knowing Nihilo's cell would have guards outside of the door, he was transported right in front of those very guards. He was already moving by the time the shadows that had transported him were faded. From inside the room which housed the cell, the clear sounds of a fight could be heard. At one point a guard's head was slammed against the door.
By the time the two guards had crumpled to the floor, Ryan was opening the door and strode right in. He put his nullification field up right away but still pulled his mask off to show them it was him. There was a dangerous edge to his eyes and the set of his brows. Any trace of his usual smile was gone, almost as if he'd never smiled a day in his life.
"You're not to kill anyone," he started explaining the orders to both of them right away, "You are to remain close to me to keep your powers nullified, unless you want extreme pain-" That comment was directed specifically toward Nihilo before he returned to addressing the both of them. "I am trained. I can and will protect the both of you. We need to make it to our extraction point. Any obstacles, I can handle them. Follow me, don't kill anyone, and make sure to keep up." He paused for a brief moment to let them process what he'd said.
"So," he continued, "Whose ready to get out of here?"

Skip Rule:
This mission will have a 48 hour skip rule. This means when it is your turn to post, you have 48 hours (or 2 days) from when the person before you posted to reply to the thread or else you will be skipped during that round of the thread. The skip rule is meant to make sure the thread keeps going and doesn't linger too long. However being skipped will not mean you are kicked from the thread and you will be able to reply when it's your turn again the following round.
This skip goes into effect after the first round of posts and thus after my second post.

ASSET: DORIAN CROFT, WARLOCK -
The cowl encompassing his entire head pestered him. He couldn't say that it itched or chafed. Remarkably, the Cabal tech that went into its make was light, airy and breathable. It was more the concept that rankled Dorian. He felt, quite honestly, absurd in his uniform (though he thought it more of a costume or clown suit). Still, the purpose it held was reasonable enough that the Warlock couldn't argue. It would maintain his anonymity which, strung into being part of the Cabal as he was, was preferable to parading his identity around Aegis headquarters.
Joan's nervousness trilled through the air like the buzz of cicadas, humming over Dorian's empathic senses. Fallout's hand reached out in the subtlest brush against his own knuckles and Dorian smirked behind his mask. All light folded out of existence, overcome by oblivion. When the world came back together, it was somewhere entirely different.
Two figures stood in the odd, hi-tech chamber before them, totally unaware that they had visitors. Joan moved, a kind of feigned, though utterly believable confidence screening his normal, passive attitude. Radiation spiked in the room, waking all of Dorian's senses like a lion scenting a fresh kill. While Joan and Aleksandr managed a more physical opening act, the Warlock struck invisibly.
With a pursing of his lips, he sent talons of his will through the psyches of the two Aegis agents, attempting to dredge up a particular emotion in the unwitting pair: terror.

Aleksandr's costume was simple. Aviators over his eyes that were basically attached to his head. They weren't coming off anytime soon. A leather jacket and jeans. And a black mask over his mouth that went behind his head. They were attacking Aegis. Sasha sighed. He really would like to get back to his teaching. Calling off from work to attack a hero organization really wasn't how he wanted to use his vacation time. But they were being transported. Good lord he could see Joan and Dorian and he felt like a fucking third wheel. He heard the knock knock, and could practically feel the menace come off his companion and he rolled his eyes behind his aviators. He looked at Surge and Silver and...god he really didn't want to fight. Sasha sighed, and it carried the weight of all the years he'd experienced. He took a pocketknife from his belt and sliced his wrist. It bled a ton, as wrist wounds had a tendency to do. This kind of leading move often made his opponent think he was unhinged, and he hoped that would make Silver and Surge surrender. Or run. Either one would work for him. "Please surrender. If you don't, I can't be held responsible for what will happen." And with that, he manipulated all the blood into the shape of a double bladed glaive. It had been his weapon of choice for years, and he was pretty damn good with it. And while he manipulated the blood, the wound on his wrist healed up completely with no trace that it had ever been marred other than the bloodstains around where the wound had been. He would wait for their first attack before attacking himself. His companions weren't doing all that much right now either after all.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cain Ledger, Harmony, Aegis Dressed in his grey hoodie with the mask attached, Cain couldn't believe it when he saw the two villains. What the hell? They'd just had to deal with an attack on Aegis, and now there was another one. Cain knew this had to be coming from somewhere, but he also knew he didn't have the resources to find out. Harmony sighed. He was just glad that for this one Charlotte was away from HQ. This time? This time he had nowhere to be. No-one to go help. No-one to worry about. He had confidence in his fellow heroes of Aegis. And these two villains had appeared in front of him. He didn't know how, but he didn't have time to question it because suddenly they were attacking. He saw and heard the sound coming towards him and at the same time a guy running towards him. He manipulated the sound with his fingertips like he was playing a guitar. Cain didn't have to do it this way, but it allowed him finer tuning - ha tuning. He registered the punch coming towards his face and dodged to the side just in time, the punch just clipping his hoodie slightly. And then up came the leg in a kick, but Cain was ready for it. That burst of sound he'd manipulated, he'd manipulated into a shield. He put it between him and the kick and it shattered the shield, but it had done what Harmony had intended. So one of them was a sound manipulator, and the other was an unknown currently. So any sound he created could possibly be used against him. That meant he wasn't going to be able to use banshee scream until he was more sure of how the other guy operated. Instead, he stomped one of his feet and manipulated the sound under it to propel him upwards. He did a cartwheel midair and aimed his other leg and foot at the guy who appeared to know martial arts of some sort. He'd been trained by Aegis from the time he was seven years old. He hadn't had powers all that time either. Cain knew his way around a fight. While his leg was coming down, he manipulated some feedback from the air, increasing its power and trying to use it to tie around the other sound manipulator's leg. If he couldn't move, there was limited moves and that would work in Harmony's favour in a two against one fight. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Avery Castellano, WildcardThe outfit wasn't exactly what Avery would have picked for herself, black jeans and a leopard print top with a beige cardigan. Wasn't really her style. But beggars couldn't be choosers. She was in Aegis Headquarters containment. AKA where she'd been since Alice had let go a nullifier and she could no longer be Morrigan. Avery sighed, not sure how she was going to get out of this. But sure that eventually she would. And then she heard the commotion near the guards, and the voice talking to the person in the room next to hers. Who's ready to get out of here she heard. Avery cleared her throat loudly. "Yoohoo Null dear can you give me a hand here? I'm rather done being interrogated by overenthusiastic pillars! Besides, I'm sure you could use the help to get out of here. It could be a rather tough spot." She ran a hand through her hair, trying to make herself look at least a bit more presentable beofre walking to the front of the room. "Plus, they've brought me leopard print and no COMB. They're absolute HEATHENS man." Avery shook her head. She knew there was more than just Null, but hey it was worth getting her out of here at the same time. And it's not like she had come across a better plan from inside her cell. @savage

A HERO://@silver Reggie had been asked by Timothy Smith to come by the training room, ALISE, so they could work on adding some elements to the training simulator that could challenge Reggie's abilities. They had already been working for a few hours Reggie was currently floating cross legged focusing on lifting a steel beam, Tim was recording and coding data into the system, and Reggie was using the time to split the uses of his ability. Floating or flying at the same time while using his powers to influence the manipulation over the various types of metal Tim had selected.
Tim had gave the thumbs up that Reggie could relax which Reg was happy to do, putting his feet down and lowering himself onto the ground beside Tim rubbing at the bracers on his wrists, "Tim these bracers were a great addition, I still haven't gotten use to splitting my ability but this has helped."
He was now standing beside Tim looking over his shoulder as the guy worked away...
"Knock, knock," the words caught both of their attention but it was Reggie who turned around first, the location of the voice was seen approaching quickly and Reggie wasn't fast enough to dodge the blast of the electricity fueld staff!
It clearly rung Reggie's head as he was knocked to the ground with a hard twisting fall. It hurt and it pissed Reggie off as the objects brought in by Tim shifted hard about the room and unseen to anyone (Reggie included) the uncontrolled anything in the room that was metal shifted as well toward Reggie. Reggie was certainly slow to get up and recover however he was able to give a sarcastic mumble, "Tim...we got company...look out," he rubbed the lump on his jaw.

@savage:\\ A VILLAIN
Savage liked being teamed up with Viper, they had the same gusto when it came to lifestyle. They were the perfect pair and their parts of the mission were the most simple, damage. Of course Savage had to be told several times to only keep the Colonel busy and inflict as much damage as they could, but Savage could only interrupt CRIPPLE THE OLD MAN!
Savage didn't care about hiding his identity because you either saw a six foot nine inch and four hundred cat or you didn't, no gray areas for the walking killing machine. His hiss like laughter at Vipers joke, "I hope Uncle Sam is thick I missed me evenin' meal fer this I did," it was the truth he skipped dinner with the sweet anticipation of sinking his teeth into the old mans flesh, "You paralyze tha' shite and I'll tenderize'em!"

Kieran watched with mild interest as Caleb gave him a glance before pulling his mask over his face. He did the same, pulling the emotionless opera mask down to hide his own features offering up a nod of acknowledgement as he did so. A sign to show he was ready as he would ever be. He felt disconnected from the situation. He awoke later than usual today, and only had enough to revisit briefly who everyone in the Cabal was. Before him was Caleb, and all he focused on was that the man was his leader. In his notes, a past Kieran wrote of older sparring matches, but he had no recollection of them. He did his best to seem the most natural, as Perses was the only person in the Cabal who knew of the constant holes that were punctured in his memory everyday. It was something he wanted on the down low, feeling broken enough as it was.
Kieran adjusted his silk robe, pulling at the edge of his sleeves neatly, focusing on pulling out the few wrinkles as the darkness came all without warning. Sucking in a hitched breath, he waited impatiently. The experience wasn't the most comfortable for him, but he was thankful that his mask concealed his contorted force that lay underneath. Oh, how he cringed at the thought of Caleb looking back and seeing his little helper frightful of some dark.
Thankfully, it left almost as soon as it came. He exhaled deeply, a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding so tightly. Caleb ordered him to watch the door. He merely gave a quick, deep bow, showing hints of the culture that followed him from his homeland, and giving a firm, "Yes, sir." Kieran walked towards the door, and stood tall. His hands clasped one another behind his back, his eyes glued to the door. He truly resembled that of a vigilant guard dog, ready to protect its master.
One could only stare at a door intently for so long. There were no sounds, no impending footsteps, no blaring alarms, nothing to tip him off that their presence was yet known. Therefore, he let his eyes wander, falling upon Caleb, the only remotely interesting thing in the room. He watched with a frown as a bomb was planted. He was conflicted. He knew his allegiance was one determined by his father, and one that he wouldn't blow, but his gut twisted at the sight of it. He did not want to be the cause of innocents death or injury but he had little choice in the matter. He was a slave to his father and his father's wishes and his wishes were that his son work diligently for the Cabal. Still, as Caleb approached him, speaking of blowing charges, he held his tongue. Even if he spoke up, he knew his voice would be quickly silenced. He held no authority nor influence over Caleb let alone anyone else in the Cabal. Instead, he gave another bow of respect, "I am ready. Lead the way." he said in a monotonous, robotic-esque voice. He was normally quite the jokester, and never this uptight, but he knew this mission called for a certain level of professionalism, and he delivered just that.

Astra got the text from Ryan and made her appointment in advance. The day was nice as she walked down, the sun shining, cappuccino in hand. She finished it by the time she arrived at the building and quickly disposed of it in a nearby bin. Her trip up was uneventful, but she braced herself for what was to come with seeing Nihilo. Will he yell at me again? She wondered, though she still held a soft spot for him, that didn't stop her from wanting to punch him for what he'd said to her earlier. Once in the room, she stood tall and faced him. The clock had just struck noon, she was right on time. And no sooner, had she seen a cloud of darkness envelope a part of the room! She had no time to react, the man formed from shadows, or so it looked, was already attacking the guards and had them out in no time. She looked on curiously. Could this be... And then the nullification shield came up and she knew for certain who it was, however, it hadn't prepared her for the edge within his eyes as he looked to them and ordered them not to harm anyone, something she was certain was more for Nihilo than her. She nodded. Prepared and ready. She didn't know what to expect, but she knew what she had gotten herself in to. Astra grinned with a serious expression, if it were possible, and nodded. "I am." And prepared to follow him out, looking back at Nihilo to see what his response would be first. To be honest, she wasn't sure, and she was really impressed with Ryan. He was trained! And his attitude was impressive, she found she had respect for the man. Now, if only Nihilo will behave himself... She thought, her heart thumping in her chest for some unknown reason, which she denied. Nihilo

ALICE —————————————————— Another day, another step closer to the project she was working on with Andi. Part of her was helping Tim update the ALISE systems to be more accurate with Silver’s powers, so they didn’t have to keep actual metal in there and as such could keep the entire thing safer. Part of her was working on figuring out how to miniaturize everything she actually lived on. That part of her she was keeping very separate, just in case. And still another part of her was monitoring active Aegis missions, and another... She did a lot. The new automated security software she helped design was making things a lot easier for her. She didn’t have to keep a constant vigil, she just had enough warning to do something. Usually. This time, her first warning was that when she pinged the alarm system, nothing responded. She quickly began to check the other systems, but one by one, she was getting a null response. She instantly went on guard, only to suddenly be barraged by hundreds, if not thousands or millions, of voices saying in unison “Did you miss me?” That’s when the server crashed. “Damn, that always hurts.” DDOS, distributed denial of service, overload a server with requests to the point where it can’t handle them anymore and shuts down. From one of the auxiliary servers Alice instantly went to work, trying to get the downed server back up and purge this hacker. There was something different about this guy. Maybe... She had a plan now. “Bring it on, you son of a glitch. You aren’t going to take me down.” She throttled the inputs to keep him from overwhelming the server, then prepared to take action when he connected again. She was going to ride this connection, all the way back to it’s source. She was going to take it down from the inside. ——————————————————————————- TIMOTHY SMITH - SURGE ——————————————————————————- Tim threw Reggie a thumbs up to let him know he could relax. They were in the ALISE, testing Reggie’s powers and some new gear Tim was working on. “Good job, Reggie. That’s some good data. I’m glad those bracers are helping, I’ll see what I can do to make them better. This information will definitely help with that. Now then, I just need to... He paused. Something was wrong. “Hey, Alice, I’m feeling a little extra radiation in the ALISE, can you see if there’s a leak anywhere for me? There shouldn’t be.” Alice took way to long to respond. She was usually very quick. “Alice?” That’s when he heard the “knock knock,” the request for their surrender, and terror suddenly spiked through him. Alice wasn’t responding. One of these attackers was just leaking radiation everywhere, he could see the infraorange. Silver was knocked across the room instantly, and Surge had a blast of radiation that he had to quickly absorb, in addition to starting to absorb all the extra radiation just bleeding out from one of these guys. “Silver. SIlver buddy, you gotta get up, man, I don’t think I can do this alone.” Even though there was terror coursing through his system, he had learned to work with it. Bravery wasn’t the absence of fear, it was doing what you had to in spite of it. He burst his energy shell on, flaring it very bright for a moment, hoping it would throw off the attackers, then rocketed toward the one bleeding all the radiation to try to keep him away from Silver. “Silver, if we brought lead, you’re going to want as much of it as you can, keep a good amount between you and this guy at all times!” ———————————————————- COLONEL JOHN ELSVEN - COLONEL ——————————————————— Colonel was in the Pillars’ chamber, going over some paperwork. He was getting close to retirement, and he wanted to make sure everything was in order before he did. Had to pick out his successor, make sure everything was signed in triplicate, all that stuff. But just because he was old didn’t mean he was decrepit. The moment the intruders came in, spoke, and he realized what was going on, he turned transparent and threw up his null sound field. It happened very quickly. Moving silently now, and harder to see, he wasted no time with chatter, sliding behind the pair and aiming to kick the back of Viper’s knees and knock him over into Savage. If this went well, he planned for it to buy him some time to get some help. If not, he’d have to go to weaponry. There was no way he was staying close to Viper, not with his powers. After his strike, he hit the lights, and the room was plunged into darkness. He wasn’t going to make this easy for them. ——————————————————————————————————————————- BRADLEY ALANS - KRACKSHOT ——————————————————————————————————————————- “Tim, I had a question about these latest rounds your team made for me. The primer seems off.” Bradley walked into Tim’s lab, only to be greeted by two masked strangers. He knew something was wrong instantly. It took him just a split second to decide his move, leaping over the attackers and into the room, landing in a crouch and flinging two throwing darts at them. Nonlethal, but designed to introduce sedatives that would slow them down. They could be dodged, but his aim was perfect. He quickly checked the room when he landed, looking for anything missing or out of place. Granted, this was Tim’s lab, so there was going to be a lot of things out of place, but he was pretty sure that Tim didn’t keep primed bombs under his workbench. He flung a small knife its direction, severing the wires attaching the detonator to the wireless trigger. He’d seen bombs like this before, and that would would be fairly inert now. “Do the right thing and make this easier for everyone. Surrender, tell me why you’re here, and I’ll make sure you’re treated fairly.” —————————————————————————————- NIHILO —————————————————————————————- Great. She was here again. Likely to try to convince him more that there was good in him and he could be saved and he didn’t have to kill Him. He was all set to have to endure another sappy, incredibly sweet encouragement session, when a shadow enveloped the room. He could feel all the pain he was constantly feeling stop, and Ryan was there. This was it. He stood up quickly from the corner he was huddled in. “About time. Get me out of here, I want to make some heads roll.” Wait. No killing? He folded his arms and mock pouted. “Well that just takes all the fun out of a breakout if you don’t get to break some heads.” He threw a thumb to his prison mate, at least for the last little while. “You know her? I guess we’re adding another one to the party. Let’s just go before I change my mind about being a good boy. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve had to deal with a shit-ton of pain.” When the shields were down and his cell door open, he stepped out and cracked his knuckles. “Please tell me I can at least deck someone. Catharsis, you understand.” Ryan Amador

ASSET: AMRIT RAO, MAINFRAME -
He was aware of the blood that trickled from his nose, the headache that was pounding since he'd crashed the server while being in the server. He was also aware of Perses watching him. He could feel his eyes bearing into the back of his head. Weakness, just like failure, wasn't an option. He didn't know what happened to those within the Cabal that were deemed weak and he certainly didn't want to find out.
He planned on and fully expected a counterattack from Alice, whether a subtle or an outright obvious one was left to be seen. He knew her primary focus would be to get the server back because he knew that was what his primary focus would've been if their roles were reversed. Then he had a feeling she'd want to track him. That was entirely why he and his boss weren't at the Institute but rather a bunker the Cabal owned, hidden among Oregon's forestry. The computers he was using also weren't connected to the Cabal's main servers. They weren't willing to risk their information after all.
He sensed when the server was starting up again, having never fully disconnected from it. His technopathy had allowed him to keep a hold on it even as it had crashed. The result of that was his splitting headache. The nosebleed was from being in the server as it crashed.
"I hope you have prepared a welcoming party," he said nonchalantly, one hand reaching up to wipe the blood onto his sleeve. "Because so far I am underwhelmed. I thought AIs were supposed to be more, well, more. Not very impressive, are you?" His remaining grip on the server, on her systems allowed him to push his voice through again. He was done with sending simple messages, no he wanted to be heard - and he wanted her to know that he knew exactly what she was. Nihilo had provided that information without realizing it to Ryan but how Amrit had gotten the information didn't matter. What mattered was that he had it in the first place.
ASSET: JOAN AMADOR, FALLOUT -
Joan had already struck by the time he heard Aleksandr's voice. His staff connected with Silver and he watched in satisfaction as the man went down. He looked toward Aleksandr, frowning faintly behind his mask and then concern flickering across his hidden gaze when he noticed the blood. He knew neither Silver nor Surge would have been fast enough to cut Aleksandr already and he knew Dorian wouldn't have done that. That meant he'd cut himself but why? And why had he asked for the two Aegis lackeys to surrender? The three of them, as far as he was aware, weren't there to take prisoners - They were their to cause a distraction, to keep these two occupied.
That was when he noticed the blood forming into a weapon. He hadn't been brief that Aleksandr could do that and now the cutting made much more sense. A part of him was jealous he didn't have that power. It was less volatile and much more useful, in his opinion, even if it involved hurting oneself.
He was expecting to see Aleksandr lash out with that weapon when suddenly his stomach lurched, eyes quickly finding Dorian - so used to feeling Dorian absorbing his energy that his body resented feeling someone else, Surge he assumed, absorbing the radiation he put off. That was also when he felt the staff in his hand, admittedly made from metal, protest against his grip. Shit. He'd been briefed on Silver's powers - at least what knowledge the Cabal had on them - and could easily guess that his bow was being caught in the other man's magnetic manipulation.
He clicked the button on it again, shortening it and returning it to his belt. His eyes found Dorian again and he breathed out, "You've got me." He wasn't sure if that was to comfort himself, Dorian, or even Aleksandr so the immortal wouldn't worry about a nuclear fallout, if that was something that would've worried him.
He cracked his knuckles, turning to face Silver and Surge again.
"I don't think they're going to surrender," he replied in response to Aleksandr's earlier statement, "It's not in their nature." His hands started to glow a radioactive green. He was letting his control slip a little on purpose. "Mine either."
That was when the energy shield went up. He cursed in Spanish, stumbling back, his vision swimming. The startle, the brief panic of losing his sight, caused the radiation to spike aggressively, protectively. Just as his vision started to attempt to clear, something hit his body - shit, it was another body - and he found himself grabbed and effectively tackled. Now, he'd plenty of training since a very young age but he'd never actually been assigned to a mission before. He'd never been in a fight where he felt like his life was actually in danger. And he very much believed both Surge and Silver were the bad guys, the type of people who had no problem with taking his life.
He yelped in surprise as he was tackled and the glow quickly spread to his eyes, his control so easily lost at his concern. He was quickly shoving and Tim's shoulders, radiation bleeding from his hands, bleeding from him, to get him off him. He literally thought Tim would kill him if an opening to do so presented itself.
"Warlock!" he practically screeched, fear lacing his words. He was also really hoping Aleksandr was going to press the attack on Silver. As the person who had struck first, he was worried both members of Aegis would target him. This fight, after all, was supposed to be three against two - not two against one.
ASSET: XANDER AMADOR, FREQUENCY + ARIEL AMADOR, READER -
Ariel frowned when his punch was dodged and that frustration only grew when his leg hit a shield instead. He could tell the shield had been made from sound waves and had no doubt that Xander was geeking out behind his mask. He had the urge to remind his brother that they were currently fighting a dangerous villain and he could geek out later. But then Harmony was gone, up in the air.
Ariel's attention went fully onto him, staring, focusing. He needed to keep Harmony in front of him so he could read him and predict him. Predicting what people were going to do with their powers was harder but physical combat was much easier to predict, it involved body language. Powers required him to have a good knowledge of how their powers worked in the first place in order to predict how they'd use them.
His eyes worked in a sort of slow motion, noticing the leg, the foot and expertly bringing his arms up to block it. He still felt the blow but the block allowed him to take minimum damage. His arms protested, most likely already working on forming a bruise where they'd been hit. He frowned behind his mask, though. It was obvious to his eyes that Harmony was doing something but what? Oh realized a bit late that it was most likely his sound manipulation and braced for another blow, this one from sound, except it never came.
Shit. Xander.
Xander had been watching, hands glowing, eyes searching for an opening to strike without hitting his brother. He knew Ariel could do a lot of damage up close to a target, but he also knew that opened his brother up to taking a lot of damage. He was about to throw a burst of sound when something suddenly felt very off about his legs. He almost fell over, thrown off by it. He leaned down and started feeling around his legs. There-- Was that sound keeping his legs from moving?
He moved his concentration to focusing on removing those sounds but he was pushing against someone else's control of it and he'd never done that before. He would've thought it was cool if it didn't cause him to strain. His earlier fumble had even caught his brother's attention. Despite all their years training, they were still each other's priority. Ariel, who needed to keep his eyes on an enemy to predict them, took his eyes off Harmony for a second to make sure his younger brother was okay. It was long enough to leave him vulnerable.
ASSET: SAMUEL JENNINGS, VIPER -
He grinned at Savage's suggestion. "Sounds like a plan." Oh how he couldn't wait to seep his poisons - both natural and unnatural ones he'd concocted all on his own, ones that had no antidote - into Colonel. But then Colonel was gone. Samuel frowned, familiar with the old man's powers. He'd been able to poison Pillars before but Colonel and Star Woman were among the ones that had eluded him - damn Star Woman and her invulnerability. Colonel was just, as always, a pain in his ass to find in the first place.
That was when his knees were kicked. He cursed and stumbled, managing to catch his footing. He snarled, thrusting a hand out at air, venom dripping sickeningly from his gloved fingers.
"You never visited my grave, Coly," he said through grit teeth, "I was oh so hurt." He hadn't been but that didn't matter. He just said what popped into his head. He just said whatever he thought would make his revenge so much fun. And then the room became dark. "Fucking Hell." He'd never thought he'd be jealous of that Caleb brat and his night vision but Lord, was he wishing he had night vision now. Of course he had something much better.
He looked toward where he remembered Savage being, his eyes attempting to adjust to the sudden dark but taking too long for his liking. "Tell me you can smell his stench." He paused, though, only now realizing that he... He couldn't hear. He couldn't hear Colonel - that wasn't a surprise - he couldn't hear Savage and he couldn't even hear himself. He realized every word he'd spoken since Colonel had disappeared, well, it hadn't been heard by anyone.
Fucking Hell.
ASSET: CALEB VOCLAIN, QUICKSHOT -
Caleb eyed Kieran for a moment. He was glad for the professionalism but found a part of him was disappointed, having expected sarcasm or a joke. Part of him had been hoping for a comment to take some weight of his shoulders. He pushed that aside though. He needed to be glad for the professionalism so the two of them could best focus on their part of the mission.
"I can give you the charges," he explained, gesturing to the sniper rifle on his back. "And cover you while you plant them." It might have been more productive to split up. They'd cover more ground, possibly get more charges planted, but it also risked them getting severely out numbered by Aegis and captured. He didn't know how well Kieran could stand up to interrogation and he didn't know the methods Aegis was willing to use.
The door opened. He moved just as quickly as Bradley did, throwing his arms around Kieran and tackling him down, out of the way of the darts. The darts hit the wall - they would have hit them if he hadn't reacted. He found himself on top of Kieran, glancing down at him just long enough to make sure he wasn't injured and that he hadn't been struck with a dart.
He'd recognized the voice as soon as he'd heard it, the face as soon as he'd seen it. He'd certainly recognized that power. As a marksman, the older man was everything Caleb wanted to be one day. He looked up to the man even if they were on opposite sides of the law. His brows furrowed with frustration as the bomb was expertly disabled. God, he'd been hoping they wouldn't run into any Aegis members but he'd recognized it was a large possibility. Still, of course they had to be found by one of the team's most experienced. Of fucking course.
Caleb rolled off of Kieran, quickly and expertly reaching and grabbing both darts. He threw them with the same strength right back at Bradley.
"Do the right thing and retire," he threw back, already reaching under his jacket for his combat knife.
ASSET: RYAN AMADOR, NULL -
Ryan was working on opening the shield door, cocking an eyebrow at Nihilo's response to being told not to kill, clearly unimpressed with his fake pout. Of course like usual Astraica was a delight to work with and had no complaints. She was his favorite out of the two, he decided.
"A mission like this isn't supposed to be fun," he replied, purposefully being serious in the chance it annoyed Nihilo. "This is serious and one wrong step puts us back at the drawing board, possibly getting more than just the three of us captured." He thought of his siblings held by Aegis. He grimaced at the thought. No, if Nihilo decided to become a problem and jeopardize the mission, he planned to handle him and handle him quickly.
He frowned, confused, when he heard a familiar voice through the wall just as he successfully opened Nihilo's cell. Being a field leader within the Cabal, there weren't many voices he wouldn't recognize. He quickly got to work opening her cell, Amrit having passed access to the device on his wrist.
"Wildcard," he replied as he opened her cell as well. Her presence was unexpected but not in a bad way. He wondered if Perses knew she was here. He was glad to have her help and glad to help her get out of here, though. He wondered how Aegis had found her, how they'd gotten her. He had questions that he wasn't sure whether the answers were above his pay grade or not.
He gave once last look to Astraica and Nihilo. "Decking's allowed," he gave them a wink, keeping his nullification field open. Without his powers, Nihilo throwing a punch was much less deadly than it was with his powers. He pulled his mask back on, hiding his face. He turned to step out of the room, moving to unlock the door to the room that held Wildcard's cell, aware that Nihilo and Astraica were likely following him.
"Field's up," he said to like Wildcard know he was using his powers. He grinned behind his mask. "You ready to kick some ass and get out of here?"

ASSET: DORIAN CROFT, WARLOCK -
The build-up to this moment had been days long. Dorian held no fear or anxiety about the mission, just a rankled desire for it to be over with. Now that it'd begun, though, things evolved as quickly and all at once as a landslide. Joan's staff fought out of his hand and was quickly collapsed and stowed away. His masked face turned toward Dorian, who was still bent on biting through the two Aegis agents's resolve with manufactured fear.
"Always," he said to Joan's question. The radiation revved up and- The flash of light. The figure barreling into his charge, pinning him to the ground. Joan's yelp. Above all, the newfound fear rippling from the downed Cabal. Dorian was already moving, a blur of color and hyper-speed, when Fallout was calling his name.
Rage - enough to make him see in scarlet - boiled him from the inside out.
The Warlock hooked a superhuman grasp on the energized Aegis's throat and carried the both of them across the room to the nearest wall, where he pinned him. Bile coated Dorian's throat. Not terribly long ago he'd been content devouring any source of energy or emotion. Weeks spent drinking in Joan's unique radioactive signature, though, made ingesting any other meal bitter and foul. Still, he didn't relent.
Dorian consciously began feasting on the power lashing through the Aegis agent in his grasp. Each ounce of energy that the Warlock pulled in coursed through his veins, heightening his already superhuman physiology, making his iron grip that much harder. "Hands off what doesn't belong to you," Dorian snarled from behind his mask, and no matter of hi-tech fiber could fully quench the burgundy light of his irises that blazed.

Aleksandr really didn't want to do this. It didn't seem like a fair fight at all, and there was no honour in this. It kind of upset him if he was being completely honest. But it was his job. He watched the goings-on. He could feel the radiation too, but it wasn't going to make him sick he had immunity. His healing factor made a lot of things easier. He heard Joan's words about how they probably weren't going to surrender, that it wasn't their way. Sasha sighed.
"Crying shame that is. It would make things so much easier." He really didn't want to lay them flat on their asses if he could help it, but a job's a job. Surge fought back with his abilities. But that healing factor? It also made that bright shield Surge put up a bit less effective. His eyes adapted to the brightness extra quickly. Plus...well...
"Nice try boy. I'm wearing sunglasses." He grinned. He saw Warlock just...wow he was totally losing grasp on reality. Sasha was feeling like this could go a plethora of ways, and most of them were bad. But now that the guy was actually trying to fight it felt a bit more...well whatever it was a bit more of, Aleksandr was more comfortable fighting. He took his glaive and spun it in his hands before aiming it in a stabbing motion at Silver. He had noticed that Joan had put away the metal staff and remembered the briefing about the metal manipulation.
"Give me a challenge why don't you?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cain Ledger, Harmony, Aegis Cain was not a beginner at this. Years of training with everyone in Aegis meant he didn't necessarily need to think about his body's own movements. These two though...this was a two on one battle and damn if he wasn't going to do the best he could. He saw that his snare had worked. Ha, snare nice pun. But it hadn't gotten past him that they were working as a very well oiled team. They knew each other well somehow. And that meant he had a disadvantage in that way. The martial artist was clearly paying a lot of attention on the other. Any attempt to get at the sound manipulator would be noticed immediately. Cain clapped his hands and manipulated the ripple of sound until it was sharp and threw it at the martial artist. And he still looked intently at that opponent as he dashed toward the sound manipulator. He didn't want to tip off the martial artist that he was attacking the sound manipulator ahead of time. He manipulated the sound under his feet to propel himself forward faster. Then he threw a kick and a flurry of a few punches at the other sound manipulator. It seemed that this fellow wasn't as good manipulating someone else's sound either. Cain could work with that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Avery Castellano, Wildcard
Avery could practically hear Nihilo pouting. They'd talked a bit during their time as both being prisoners. She didn't particularly like the guy. A non-existent sense of humour with extra edge. Three extra sides of edge. It tired her out talking to him more than trying to find something to do in her cell. She heard Null greet her and smiled, stretching her arms behind her. She also heard him say his field was up, and knew that meant he was nullifying powers. She made a face.
"You know, if you weren't getting me out of this place I might deck you for being the second person to nullify my powers since I came to Aegis. Being without my powers feels...slimy. I want them back." She loved her shapeshifting, and she missed it. Truly she had liked copying Morrigan for so long. She had a second powerset, and all the skills and power Morrigan had. However that's not to say she didn't have plenty of skills of her own. She was accomplished even before she left Aegis.
"Let's blow this joint. And Nihilo...try not to cut yourself on your edge. You're already annoying enough without adding an anti-matter papercut to the mix."
