"House brew. Black."
A simple order for a simple man. Albeit one with some secrets. As John Elsven took his coffee and sat down, wearing a hat and sunglasses to somewhat conceal his identity while he drank, he took in the sights and smells of the cyber cafe.
All the kids playing their games was a little beyond him. Back in his day, he had Pong as the most innovative game out there, and things just moved on so quickly. He was interested, but it got complicated and he already had a lot to deal with. He liked to pass his time knitting. Well, knitting and keeping an eye on young vigilantes. Really, it was a recruitment tactic, and one he was pretty sure that other Pillars employed as well. Watch over young heroes, look out for them, and then push them towards where they could get help, namely Aegis.
The young man he'd helped last night, with the drug bust, this Nightwalker, was a smart kid, he just needed some direction.
He sipped his coffee thoughtfully, musing about this entire thing he started. Was it really the right thing? It inspired children to go do acts of vigilantism, but there was genuinely a need for superpowered law enforcement. People who got power would either choose to use it responsibly or selfishly, and if the responsible ones had the ability to keep the selfish ones in check...
They'd need to decide whether that was their responsibility or not. It was his responsibility to give them as much training, guidance, and help as he could.
That's why he really hoped that the kid was gonna show up.
