Arthur had joined his colleagues at the head of the tour, he wasn't feeling hearing all the 'nerd talk' that all these people were about to share so he was just going to smile and nod for a few minutes then get a 'call' for duty. It was his friend who saved him with a question in which Arthur chuckled, "Good question Ichiro, Surge? Don't worry that is a good friend of mine Surge, he enjoys the nerd talk but," he made a literal beeping noise and looked at his own cheap watch, "Oh man as much as I would love to hear about transformers and the such....duty calls!"[/color] He does not give time for a rebuttal as his mask covers his face, he gives them his signature salute before taking off in a sprint for the front door.....it was quite impressive.... Art passed the question to Tim, and left as quickly as he could. Which Tim kinda expected. Joke was on him, though, Tim planned on putting Art's name in next year's drawing for who had to lead the tour several extra times to get back at him. Seeing Mr. Ito though was a treat. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Ito, I'm familiar with the work your company does. We'll have to try and talk shop sometime, if we can make our schedules align. To answer your question though, it is something that we've considered more than once. However, there are various factors that make a "robotic police force" infeasible at this time. The first of which is I'd have to come up with a cool acronym that may or may not be pronounced 'Alice.'" Tim's joke was rewarded with a few chuckles from audience. "Seriously though, there are things. We believe current AI technology isn't advanced enough to make the life-or-death decisions that our heroes have to make every day in the field. In addition, there's something comforting to victims of a tragedy to know that there's a person fighting to save and protect them, someone with a name and a life of their own that's putting it on the line for them, that right now a robot can't provide. We also have to take popular culture into account. Stories like "I, Robot" and "Terminator" make people distrustful of robotics when they're given the kinds of capabilities that they'd need to be effective. We also don't want to turn the country into a police state and violate personal privacy. "1984" is a cautionary tale, not an instruction manual." he offered with a chuckle. "That being said, we do employ some robotics to aid our agents. We have field triage drones that help agents patch up their own wounds, and several bomb disposal robots as well. A robotic police force though, while it may happen someday in the future, we're just not quite there yet. Now, are there any other questions before we move on?" Morrigan listened to everything going on. She saw the guy passing out a comic. She knew all too well who he was. The comment about robotic police force caught her attention, and she approved of Tim's answer but decided to elaborate.
"People seem to prefer seeing a human face at this time. And empathy is a really hard thing to crack where artificial intelligence is concerned. We did consider it, but in the end there are enough things that aren't currently feasible about the idea, along with some concerns about handing robots lacking empathy weaponry. Emotions are a driving force for us. And while sometimes that can work against us, it can also be an incredible boon I think you'll agree." She smiled slightly.
"Medical aid on the other hand, can be handily done by robotics and it frees up our heroes to help with other matters that robotics can't currently handle." She was also carefully watching the two girls discussing things with each other. They seemed bubbly, but Shade was getting to hear some snippets of conversation and decided to make note of them. And their faces. In fact, she was mentally cateloguing everyone at the tour event. It wouldn't be the first time people had tried to scope out Aegis for something or other. She had to be prepared.
"I would also like to note that while the training simulator looks like great fun, it isn't a toy. Trainees sometimes underestimate it, for example." She thought she would throw a warning in.

Arthur was leaving, Ichiro followed the man with his eyes but that was all. Bakuhatsu laughed a little coldly, "Enjoy your life while you still have it....Arthur Glass....."
Ichiro turned his attention back to Surge and the masked lady he wasn't to familiar with but he guessed this was Shade the woman Arthur always talked about giving him loads of shit. Of course he knew all of this about why robotics wasn't a dependable substitute for a human workforce, these people and their human emotion. It made him sick but he smiled and bowed to their answer's, "Very informative, plus with the technology provided today most of the human police force can withstand a small siege of supers human's for some time...giving the real heroes of Aegis time to come save the day!"
The crowd gave a small cheer of approval, this to made Ichiro bitter. "I would also like to extend my own invitation for you to come to our labs Surge, two brains like ours working together who knows what we could do....maybe stop the international super terrorist Bakuhatsu? Wouldn't that be a treat?"
"I want to see them try! I'll kill them all and blast them into the sky!" Bakuhatsu hissed in thought, the gooseflesh spread across the body of Ichiro as his hands went into his pocket to clench in fists of rage.

Astra watched the interactions between the heroes up front and Arthur Glass leave with wide eyes. She had to agree with everything they said. Emotion was so important, and if Surge said AI wasn't capable, it was probably a fact. She contemplated on that, when, she doubled over slightly and clutched her chest. Rage. Unbearable rage filled her, and it was coming from... She looked up and her eyes locked on the man who ran Ito Future! But... What could make him feel that way? She shook her head, wondering if her empathy messed up. She looked up at him sadly. Something must have happened, something they said about the police force not being AI... Maybe he felt really passionately about AI and their capabilities. Maybe he thought they were putting them down... Yes, that must be it. She thought as she watched them a little more and waited for the tour to continue. She kept an eye on Ito in sympathy and curiosity, periodically, while she waited. Cae Mire

She looked around and gave a nod of no as she spoke to Ribbon Harmony. "If you go brunette you'll look like your mother's twin. I am advising against it right now but you will make your own decision I know." She looked at them and then spoke as the crowd interrupted into cheers which kind of scared her. "Ribbon, you're coming with me right?" She had given up on Micah's lazy ass honestly and the man was giving her evil on an acid type of vibe. "We should do it together because come on everyone knows that getting two good guys is better than one." She moved along as she seen the evil man kind of stuff his hands into his pockets. "Ribbon I know he's a stranger but do you think that he has candy in his pockets?" She needed sugar but she noticed his pockets did not seem friendly. "Fuck Micah," she whispered. "It'd be really handy to have someone that could read this man's body language. Hand me your phone I need to call him right now and do not give me any lip." She looked around spotting the woman who clutched her chest. "Crap if she dies I'm done." She said as she moved. "Ribbon come on we're moving but seriously members of Aegis what say you?" She took a second to move before slightly banging her phone against her head as she moved on. "Come on do not die out on me now." She said as she flipped it and took the battery out. She slightly ran her hands across it and her mind and thoughts were elsewhere as she heard Trove. "Yeah sure whatever you want to do," she said. She needed to take her mind off of the fake snow so she pulled out her phone and brought up her words with friends. "I need a six letter word that means poise. Also you said what about my hair? Oh well I guess that's true but I mean I'm shedding anyway so maybe the blonde is a bit too harsh." She put the battery back in place and flipped her phone over. "No you freaking fudge flower file f**** a**** b***!!!" She felt her back start to hurt as she sighed and slightly gritted her teeth. "I'm too upset to do this right now and it's been my turn for like two hours and she's going to think that I stopped playing." She was freaking out too much about a phone game. She finally looked at Trove. "You're not getting my phone." The conversation was everywhere in her head. "Candy?" She slowly looked around. "From a stranger?" She looked at the man. "Hey it's your life." Her eyes quickly darted to the young woman. "She seems calmer now but I am curious.." They were in a room full of people even moving so. "Don't you just get curious wondering what if anything everyone in here can do? Anyway you and Micah are going to make a great team you just got to give him time." That was it! "By the way you don't need my permission to ask if you can team up with him." Absolutely no idea that she had agreed to take his place as she still thumped on her phone. Morrigan Cavanaugh

After a moment, and some sort of outburst from two girls towards the back of the group that he ignored, Tim moved on. "Alright, hearing no further questions, let's continue on. I think next up we have our testing and research facilities, where we try to figure out the potential of our agents and their powers." He led the group down a few more hallways to several rooms set up with windows specifically for this purpose. "Normally these windows are frosted to protect the privacy of our agents, but today we had a couple volunteers give their consent to be featured on our tour." Tim waved to the Aegis agent sitting in a medical chair. He was wearing the standard Aegis training sweatsuit, but it already looked soaked. One arm was rolled, up, and he was getting blood drawn. A small container was collecting liquid dripping off the finger of his other hand. "We want to know how best to employ our heroes and their unique abilities and powers, so we have every new Aegis member go through a battery of tests. A full physical, like Hydrocity is getting here, including blood, urine, and various other tissue and fluid tests is one step. Hydrocity has powers that involve generating water, so we collect that and test it as well. We do that with any substance a hero could generate. This lets us get a grasp on how each hero's unique body chemistry may go into how their powers work. My field may be physics with a focus on energy, but in recent years I've started looking into superhuman biology as something of a hobby. It's really quite fascinating how diverse powers can have similar--" "Mr. Smith. You are rambling again." Alice interrupted from speakers set in the ceiling, still portraying a very robotic tone. Couldn't let anyone know the truth about her just yet. "You requested that I inform you should you get too far into the minuta of any particular subject." "Right, right. Thanks. Anyway, in addition to the physical tests, we also observe and record various kinds of data on power demonstrations that you can see over here." Another room had a metal beam mounted to the wall, covered in sensors, with a plate on one end. A girl, around fifteen or sixteen years old walked into the room, also wearing a standard Aegis training sweatsuit. She looked at the beam, looked out at the crowd, smiled and waved, then dropped into a fighting stance. "Oh. Oh this will be good. Real good. That's Charlotte, also known as Invincible Girl. She's going to demonstrate how she got that codename, and also how we test some kinds of powers to measure their effectiveness and--" Tim was cut off as Charlotte reared back and delivered a massive left cross into the plate and metal beam, sending out a shockwave of concussive force that shook the walls. The beam crumpled against her might, and Charlotte didn't miss a beat, kept the momentum, and followed that punch all the way through to the wall, flattening the beam against it and even denting the wall itself. She dusted her hands off then waved again at the crowd. "Yeah. That. Told you it would be good. Anyway, we take all this data we collect and a bunch of us eggheads go over it very carefully, and categorize each power using some internal systems for assigning specific roles, but also by the international standard of Superpower, Megapower, and Ultrapower, from least powerful to most powerful respectively. All this information is kept within Aegis. Individuals may request their own information, but to get anyone else's information requires a legal subpoena and must go through or legal team to preserve the privacy of our agents. Any more questions?" Morrigan Cavanaugh

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] WE'VE BEEN CHASING OUR DEMONS DOWN AN EMPTY ROAD ESCAPING OUR SHADOWS JUST TO END UP HERE [attr="class","itokaytext"]Morrigan watched the demonstration and listened to Tim barely. She saw the beam and sighed. She spoke through to Charlotte.
"Sweetheart if you can pry that beam out of the wall I'd really be appreciative. Otherwise it's gonna take forever to get the test room back to normal." Charlotte made a face at her and Morrigan put a hand on her forehead. This was why she avoided dealing with the teenagers. Charlotte especially was an interesting case. The girl was invincible as her alias suggested, so there really wasn't much that could be done to get her to behave when she didn't want to. Morrigan was trying to figure out ways, but it never went quite right. She shook her head and then decided to put in her two cents worth about what Tim was saying.
"We take our agents' privacy very seriously. The only reason you got to saw Charlotte and know her name was she has consented to a public identity. People like myself prefer that people don't know where we are. I'm sure you all understand why someone in a position of power would want to avoid being publicly known." She would rather keep her loved ones...intact, after all.
