@feivelmouse
Ertugrul Ozan - Magpie Walking along the street toward A clock store Bringing home the bacon!
Well it was a cheesy pasta dish and some shrimp with delicious bread but still...bacon.
Eddie currently in Human form as he held the Olive Garden take out bag close to his chest while also holding up an umbrella to try and keep it warm and keep the rain off it. Dinner for himself and Kozlov. He was sure that Mouse haddn't left off to go to some party since he left him in the morning so what better way to come back then with sustenance! Eddie had spent the day following up on some leads he had heard from the homeless about rumors the day before and also scoping out some bigger buildings. In bird form of course. Some interesting things to be sure. But those were for compiling and reviewing after food. Flying about took a lot out of you!
Side stepping to avoid a couple coming the other way giggling about some show Eddie just nodded at them before continuing on his way. The store in view now as the rain kept pattering down against his hood and jacket. This place was at least like home in that respect. Cold and damp. Which was good as it did a great job hiding black feathers away. Just sucked when those wings got waterlogged.
Setting the bag down under the awning he reached into his pocket to get his keys before he stopped. They were still open. He didn't need to unlock the door. Or get out his picks. Force of habit. So opened up the door he stepped inside before shutting the door with his back foot. It would take him awhile to get in himself though as he had replaced all the door locks with real locks. Not the poor mans toy that they came with. Sliding out of his soaked coat and hanging it on the railing before calling out. "Feivil! I picked up dinner for you! Are you tall and hungry?" Somewhat code to ask if either of them were in their animal forms and if anyone else was there.

Feivel was immersed in working on a project, set up in his back workspace. The storefront itself was small, with bits and bobs and some clocks strewn about, but the real magic happened in the back. Figurative magic, of course, but customers always were amazing at how small, detailed, and intricate his clock and watch designs were, unaware that he could turn into a small and dexterous creature that made such feats easy.
He didn’t need to do that now, he currently sat in his human form hunched over a watch. An easy fix, one that he did relying mostly on touch. He was so focused on his work, that he jumped as he heard Eddie call out. He twisted in a final bolt before setting the watch aside.
“I’m the only one here, don’t worry!” He called back, standing and moving to the front room to greet Eddie at the door. He sniffed the air, and he didn’t need his mouse senses to know that Eddie had brought some good smelling food. “Is that pasta?”
As he ushered Eddie in, squinting in the light of the front room -- he liked to keep his workshop in low light, easier on his blind eyes -- he reached out and flipped the sign on the door from “OPEN” to “CLOSED”. Feivel shrugged, with a “I was planning on closing up soon anyway.”
“How was work?” Feivel tilted his head, listening to the rain. “How was the weather with… you know. Wings.”

Eddies normally grumpy demeanor brightened up a lot when he saw Fev happily stumble out of the back and sniff up the smell of cheese. It really was a breath of fresh nice air in this country. That was great. The older man nodding as he set the bag on the counter top and pulled over two chairs. A small table but it worked. "It is, thick and cheesy like you like. Its on the top but if you could get both out that would be helpful. I'm going to put some warmer clothes on." Sliding pas Fev as he went to close up the store Eddie kept an ear out as the conversation continued as he headed upstairs to get out of his drenched clothing.
"Won't here any complaints from me," about closing up as the wet clothing was rested near an old heater. "And if its some life threatening clock repair I'm sure they will get our attention somehow." Soon heading back down in new clothes Eddie ehhhh-ed and did a 'so-so' wriggle of his hand. "I didn't try to fly too much today. It can be done but getting water in your bird eyes with only feathers to try and clean them isn't super fun. So it was mostly walking around." A smile as he moved to the counter. "You know, like a normal human would do."
Skipping the question about work as he opened up his food and scrolled through the various stories he had about what he did. Before his brain settled on one. "Due to the rain lots of people were home all snuggled up. So looking for a score wasn't the main point today. I did see a lot of poorly secured locations however." Taking a bit of delicious bread as he sighed happily. "I'll see if they are interested in better locks later."

Feivel had to admit it was a little funny that he could turn into a mouse and loves cheesy foods, though if anyone tried to point it out he would vehemently deny it. His stomach rumbled, and he was too hungry to worry about living up to mousy stereotypes.
“Sounds delicious.” He moved to the table, feeling for the bag, and pulled out the steaming boxes. He smiled as Eddie talked from upstairs. “Ah yes. The thousands of life or death situations that only a clockmaker can solve!” He joked.
As Feivel heard Eddie return down the stairs, he snagged two forks and set them by the boxes. He gave a sympathetic smile as Eddie described the perils of flying in the rain. He could relate, being a mouse in the rain always had its own share of troubles.
“Oh, you didn’t walk around as a bird?” Feivel asked, sounding genuinely curious until he followed it up with a joking grin. Feivel settled down by the chair, opening up his own box of food, letting out a content sigh as he tasted it.
“Mmm… amazing.” He nodded as Eddie told him about his day, happily slurping up the noodles. “Yeah, they’ll be wanting new locks when you’re done with them.”
“Is it true what they say? That most robberies happen in the daytime, because people are at work?” Admittedly, while Feivel wasn’t exactly a saint and hadn’t always followed the law to the letter, he wasn’t as involved in the crime world as Eddie. He didn’t love what Eddie did, but as long as he kept quiet about it and didn’t bring attention to Feivel’s shop, he wasn’t going to judge his friend, and only other person he knew who had powers similar to his own.

"Sometimes I do, but it often isn't worth it unless me being big and walking around would cause too much suspicion. Because just like your little form enough water or wind blowing around and I'll slide along the ground as a bird. And even wet asphalt or grass is no fun to slide against when I may lose feathers. Those take awhile to grow back and make my skin quite sore." Opening up his box to get a deep whiff of that shrimp scampi as he sighed before sticking the fork in. "I do hop and peck the ground though, always nice to get free food from people."
A few mouth fulls of pasta and shrimp later Eddie shrugged as he popped his thermos open and took a drink. "I'd rather be selling the locks really. Most of these Oregonians don't have a lot that would really sell second hand. And I'm sure people would start to look this way if things started to go missing. Two Russians, as far as they are concerned, living in a store would be suspect." A shrug. "You know how Americans are sometimes." He smiled at the question though as he finished a few more bites before leaning back.
"Thats a loaded question isn't it? It depends a lot on context and location. Most people tend to turn their security systems on when they get home or before they sleep so robbing them during that time would be more risky. Which does make daytime sound like a better time. But during the daytime people are always out walking or exercising or doing whatever it is they do for work. So the chance to be seen is greatly increased. Which makes the night sound better." Another scrumptious mouth of bread and shrimp. "So we thieves need to instead look and watch. Not just jump in. See if they have security, what job they have, how often they are home. Once we have found that out we secure the location. See how often people walk by. Is there a quick way out should things go wrong. For me thats easier with the whole." He spreads his arms out and flaps. "But still its good to check. And once it all comes together thats when you make the move. Sometimes it'l be during the day. Sometimes during the night."
Another drink as he leaned back forward to resume eating. "But on the whole statistically yes. Because of the reason you stated. Violent crime however is more of a night thing last I checked."

Feivel shuddered as Eddie described how it was a bird in the rain, remembering how he could get incredibly cold and wet when he ran around as a mouse in this kind of weather. He was grateful he could stay in his, admittedly not super well heated, but at least dry home.
“Best part of changing into an animal,” He said, nibbling at a piece of bread. “The free food.” Feivel nodded as Eddie talked about selling rocks, the nodding turning into a wry smile as Eddie described them. “Two Russians, very scary.”
“Hmm, that’s interesting.” Feivel had to admit it was, he really didn’t have much experience with robbery, the most was some shoplifting during the brief stint he was homeless. He grinned, gesturing to his cloudy eyes, the product of his glaucoma. “Looking and watching. Two things I'm the best at. I’d be a great thief.” Feivel said, still grinning to show he wasn’t offended.
“I mean, you would think being a mouse would make stealing things easier. But that’s not really true, things are heavy!” Feivel pointed out as he continued eating his pasta. It was amazing, warming him up from the inside. He was eternally grateful he had a friend like Eddie.
“Yeah, people tend to be more bold at night.” He stirred his pasta. “I don’t know HOW there is still violent crime here… there are SO many ‘heroes’, it seems like they’re just waiting to pop out.” Feivel frowned, he wasn’t necessarily opposed to the idea of Aegis, but the thought of telling MORE people about his powers? Terrifying to him. “You ever run into any other powered people? Besides me, of course.” He was curious if anyone had stopped Eddie during one of his robberies, too.

"Well that and having to pay less for beds and blankets and the like - when you can just use my wing as one and a few fuzzy blankets piled up is all we need." Pointing just in general with his fork. "Its a good thing we aren't really being looked at now as I suspect people would start to wonder where we do sleep in here as its not really super house sized." Before a shrug. "And less food when small helps too for costs and the like. Just sometimes its nice to treat our tall forms."
He did smile however when Feivel downplayed his own potential as he looked at all the repaired clocks. "I think you would actually do really well at it Feivel. You for sure have the dexterity and feel you would need to make locks sing for you. And you already have a great handle on all that new data security. Besides I would be the one on the lookout for you. One caw for your ok two squawks for change and run. That kind of thing. But the few little lessons we've had should show you that you'd do great. You pick it up really quick."
He stretched his legs down the side of the counter top and nodded as he wriggled his socked feet. "That they are. Thankfully smaller things like jewels are fairly easy to flap away with if there isnt a way out. Or I can generally shift and push it with my head or shoulder enough to get it near a window. Then I exit, change, and pick it up again. But you would have more issues I grant you that...unless we could get some kind of shrinking ray that was mouse sized for you. Zap down some big thing and then just well...scurry off with it." A big smile as he thought of a bling-ed out mouse scuttling under the door. Before it was replaced by a sigh and a frown.
"Because a lot of the heroes don't tend to focus on the smaller things. Or criminals, like me, wait for something bigger to happen like banks or fires and then take advantage of the confusion. The greed of people is always there and eventually it will become to great that it will happen despite the risk. And in Europe I met a lot and saw more. The biggest if I remember was a young girl who could lift a tank. I believe the Russian Government used her for recruitment and posters. Real nice girl though. She loved to have me on her shoulder as she signed autographs." He pulled out his phone and skimmed through. "But here in Oregon? Not personally no but I've seen what I suspect are a few of them when flying or walking about. But not trying to draw attention." He slid the phone across to show the said young Girl. She was on the prettier side of average but nothing special. With a Magpie standing upright and proud on her shoulder. Eddie going back to warm tasty food.

“That’s true. It can be quite convenient.” Feivel said, agreeing with Eddie. He didn’t know exactly how much he had saved because he slept in a little mouse bed or ate mouse portions of food, but he knew it was probably a lot. He shrugged. “I don’t think people realize I live here; they think it’s just a shop. A lot of people tend to not notice what is right under their noses.”
Feivel shrugged but couldn’t hide a genuine smile at the praise. As much as he pretended he wasn’t insecure at all, it was still nice to be told he was, or would be, good at something. “Picking locks, fixing clocks, not too different if you think about it.” He said, musing.
Feivel grinned, thinking of a little bird pushing around a suitcase full of money, or trying to peck at a safe. It was pretty ridiculous when he thought about it, but it was Eddie’s life. “Oh, a shrink ray would be incredibly helpful.” He said, thinking of how hard it was to get around as a mouse. He then imagined a mouse dressed as a burglar and snorted at the absurdity of it, as he continued to eat his pasta.
“Hmm, that’s true. I guess heroes don’t bother with ‘normal’” Feivel said normal while doing air quotes, “Criminals. They just try to fight the big evils with freeze rays or murder guns or whatever they have… I don’t even know.” To be honest, Feivel generally tried to keep to himself, and didn’t really know powered villains did. Or heroes, for that matter.
Feivel squinted at the phone screen as Eddie handed it to him, blurry eyesight making it incredibly difficult to make out details. He figured it was of said girl, probably with Eddie on her shoulder.
“Awww, how cute.” Feivel said, handing back the phone. “Did anyone in Russia know your ‘true identity’? Or were you just a bird?”

"That and looking up. People never really do either. Especially if its something they are used too. Cant tell you how many time I see people doing illegal things right under me because they just assume 'oh its no people are we fine' or 'its just a bird who cares'." A shrug and nomph. "Then again It's easier than being paranoid at every little thing. I'll take missing some things over that." A bit of a grunt at proper a bad memory of someone who he used to know. In the old country.
Before brightening up and nodding. "Thats the spirit, and in the end it is pretty similar. Lots of small adjustments to move tiny items to complete the project. That is unless you don't need to be fully silent and are just breaking the lock. But its more fun to do it quiet. Makes me feel more like a professional." A shrug. "And it would be helpful a shrink ray. I'll have to keep an eye out for that with all the weird powers people tend to have I'm sure something like that exists now." He tapped his fork on the plastic tub. "Though its probably pretty big I'd guess...heh. A giant shrink ray." Shaking his head at his own silly idea.
"And I don't fully blame the full Aegis hero people for avoiding the smaller stuff. The police still need a job and no matter how powerful they are they are just one individual. They cant be looking at every part of the city at ever moment of every day. Despite not really being on their side I can't blame them for that."
He was able to act normal as he took the phone back as he stopped himself immediately responding 'yeah loads all my intelligence network science friends' as he knew from the chats he had with Feivel before he came to this country that would be the worse thing he could say. So he kept chewing as he nodded and slid his phone back into his pocket. "I mainly flew and mooched around Kazakhstan but yeah. Quite a few knew me personally. I still had to go out and buy food and run a locksmith store after all. And a lot saw me as a bird too but I did the hop skip peck caw as well as I could to just be a bird. The owner of the store," even though that was him Mouse didn't need to know. "And two other people knew both sides however. They would always get a kick out of me trying to pick locks in bird form. Not to brag too much but I got pretty good at it."

“In their defense,” Feivel said, as he started eating the last of his pasta, “Most birds AREN’T secret criminals.” Feivel paused. “At least, that I know of?” He shook his head, deciding not to think too hard about the possibility of a secret bird organization dedicated to committing crimes. He nodded when Eddie mentioned the drawbacks of being paranoid. He had fallen down the YouTube rabbit hole of conspiracy theories on more than one occasion, but most of them were too weird, even for someone with powers.
That’s cool, Feivel made a mental note to see if he could find (or make) some practice locks to try to pick. “A giant shrink ray? Just build a second one to shrink the first one down. Problem solved.” Feivel said, with a grin on his face.
Feivel just shrugged, brow furrowed. “Yeah, I wouldn’t want them looking into every nook and cranny of the city. Police or heroes.” Feivel mentioned, referring to his desire to stay at least somewhat ‘off the grid’ and not be reported on.
Feivel didn’t notice anything off about Eddie, figuring he was taking his time to remember who knew he was a bird. He grinned at the thought of Eddie acting like nothing more than a regular bird, then wider at the thought of Eddie showing off his lockpicking skills as a magpie.
“Ah, just a couple people then. You’re the only person who knows about me… besides, you know.” Feivel waved a hand, assuming Eddie remembering when he talked about how he got his powers through a science experiment, and had escaped the lab. “Did anyone try to… how should I put this… manipulate you? Or blackmail you with that knowledge? I worry about that sometimes…”
