"Well yeah but I have to physically be there to sift my beak through their documents and shinies. You sneaky rodents can do it all remotely! I'm pretty sure at least. Probably depends how good their net connection is and...stuff. And I think locks are easier. But thats why we are trying to teach each other as well we can so we can be equally good at what we need to do in the moment. Should we ever need to do the others job. If its needed of course as I don't try to just go around and steal anything here. Don't need Aegis FBI-ing down our door. Better than the Soviet services at least. They would blow up a wall."
The circus comment got him to cackle caw in bird form as he made an exaggerated flapping shrug with his wings. "Most media and entertainment forms just lie now. Would that really be so different? We would be able to put on a really good show and entertain the spectators really good. And isn't that what they want at the end of the day? It would be like those stage magic shows - a lie but a fun one..." The beak clacking against the table as he hummed. "Then again these days who knows what really can just teleport things into their hands with Supers around."
Moving back to look down at the lock Eddie shook his bird head. "I'm not surprised this is easier for you in this form. Picking locks especially when you cannot see inside like you can now is all about feel and intuition. And your big ears and whisker-y things likely make the feel easier for you. And as long as you can lift the wiper which you clearly can you can make even more precise adjustments being smaller."
A talon raising up as he stepped on the wiper to provide a bit more tension as Mouse worked. Without lips he couldn't really smile at Feivel saying he wouldn't break in but the eye sparkle showed his mirth. "Of course, this is just a good skill to have if you forget your keys I getcha. But you'll be fine, once you get a better handle on it here which is mainly learning the mechanics you'll be able to do with your humans hands far easier." Some side to side head movements as he looked down at the lock. "In fact." He gave the wiper insert a press down and Feivel was rewarded with the, especially to mouseboi, loud click of the lock unlocking!

Feivel gave a shudder when Eddie described Aegis or an FBI-like organization breaking down his door. The thought absolutely terrified him, but he took some comfort knowing that Eddie was at least careful in his illicit activities. He did take some amusement in thinking about Eddie doing the work in his shop. He was sure Eddie would be fine with actually making or fixing the products, but dealing with tricky customers? That he’d like to hear. Not that he could pass judgement, he was exactly an expert with talking to people himself…
His thoughts were brought back as Eddie let out a cackle, and he gave a grin in return. “That’s true. Hard to tell these days what is special effects and what is actual powers.” He gave a nod in agreement. “Oh yeah, I’m sure people wouldn’t mind if the trainers were really ‘in control’ of us animals, as long as they got a good show out of it. Although, in that case, the trainers would get all the credit. None for us!”
Feivel twitched his whiskers, as they brushed against the lock, agreeing with what Eddie was saying. “I see what you mean, are your tools mostly small, or are there some really heavy or bulky ones?” Feivel held out a tiny paw in a mock flex. “I’m not THAT strong, unfortunately.”
The lock now had all his attention, as he worked with Magpie close by. He stuck his tiny tongue out in concentration, and let out a squeak of joy as the lock clicked open. His tail twitched as he couldn’t contain his excitement. “Hey! It actually worked!”

Well Eddie did run a business back home...so maybe hed do ok? As long as these Oregonians could deal with a rather thick 'Russian' accent when they did business. And while he did work with small things on the reg putting gears and wheels back together would likely be a bit out of his wheelhouse. Unless he had some damn good directions to follow. Thankfully for Feivel people busting down the door wouldn't work well for Eddie either so hed likely do his best to keep it unbusted.
"Ah you see thats why we would cut the trainers in on the money. All they would need to do was showboat and for us to do most of the work. Id think a 70/30 split would attract some showmen for that. We the animals getting more as we put our skills to the test and bodies on the line as we dive around the flame hoops or leap between the blades or...whatever we decide would happen. Thats for some mastermind to work out. I'm just a groundling." The bird nodding matter of factly as he added. "And its true - thats why I tend to try and look at everything as entertainment thats often fake. But that doesnt mean it cant be entertaining."
He tilted his head one way than another at the tool size question. "Mostly small as most locks are small. But if I dont care about being sneaky or need to go fast I bring a big hammer or some bolt cutters. No matter how complex a lock is if I break it or the chains its connected too its open all the same. But if I'm going to bird up I just have to use the small things as like you I'm not THAT strong. So swinging a sledgehammer is a no go."
Before his eyes were back on the lock and then click! The beak clacking in approval as Eddie hopped off the lock. Holding out a talon knuckled up for a little animal fist bump. "It did! Fine work for your first go! And soon enough you'll be popping these open in no time!"

A look of concern flickered across Feivel’s face at the mention of flaming hoops and blades, knowing that, with his luck, he would be lucky to not be sliced in two. “Hmm… as good of an idea that sounds… I think, unfortunately, I’m going to have to pass on the circus life.” Feivel said, with a light laugh.
Feivel, with his little mouse paws, mimed swinging a hammer at the lock. “Yeah. I guess it just depends on what you’re trying to do, huh?” He rapped the lock lightly with his small claws. “You could a, uh, you know what they do in crime shows? Just straight up shoot the lock. I feel like that wouldn’t work, but it seems to in movies, every time.” Feivel shook his head.
Feivel returned the fist bump in excitement, a large grin gracing his mouse features. “Yeah! That’s awesome!” As Feivel celebrated, he remained in mouse form, not really seeing the need to turn back into a human just yet. “Watch out world, there’s a new locksmith in town!” He shook his head, knowing that he probably wouldn’t be showing off those ‘skills’, as telling people he was able to pick locks would definitely defeat the secrecy of being a thief.
As the adrenaline rush of accomplishment left him, Feivel sat down at the table, exhaustion hitting him. The food and lockpick lesson helped boost his energy, but the fact was he had a very busy day, he wanted to get ahead of the watch making orders. He tried to stifle a yawn, pushing away his tiredness, not wanting to stop yet.
“So what’s next? Next, uh, next lock?”

"Oh I would too. That sounds far to regimented and with way to many eyes watching me to be enjoyable. It was just a fun little thought experiment really." He rolled his bird neck. "Besides - we would need to make a troupe of shape changers to do that. And I don't know any besides yourself, me, and one old man back in Belarus who could turn into a dog. I think a Russian Spaniel. He didn't do any sneaky," catching himself in time from continuing with 'government'. "Thief work though. He mainly wandered around to orphanages to make the kids smile with tricks and hugs. A nice guy." The shooting comment got a chuckle before he looked up and let out a yawn before looking back down at the work. "Technically that could work if you break the right part of the lock. But you also run the risk of jamming it up and then you have mangled perhaps melted metal to try and pry apart and a lot of noise. And if you want to just break the lock there are easier ways to do that with a hammer or hell even two wrenches. It does look good on the movie screen doesn't it?" (Woosh; www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBSSA5ot0tA ) The bird couldnt help but smile at the happy lil mouse as he remembered his first times getting successful picks. It really did bring him back. "Fine work. Just remember to take your education slow and dont go running outside to open our neighbors locks right away. No need to jump ahead." A sage beak nod before he noticed Feivel yawning too! That food was taking its tool as Eddie looked up at the clock. "Humm. I think next is sleep. I'm sure you had a long productive day as I did looking about so I think sleep would do us both good." Flapping off the table with a woosh of air over the mouse Eddie would hop over to turn off the shops lights before moving back to the table and opening up a talon for Feivel to hop in if he wanted. Before he would fly them both up to the little office upstairs the small shop where they would settle into the closet in the nest.

“Aww, he does sound sweet.” Feivel said, in response to Eddie’s description of his friend back in Berlarus. “I wish I knew more people who could do what we do…” He smiled at Eddie. “But I’m very lucky to have met you!”
He nods in agreement. “Of course, of course. I’m not planning on robbing anyone anytime soon, don’t worry.” Feivel was about to protest more, denying that he was tired, but he was interrupted by him yawning. He couldn’t exactly deny his tiredness then. “Yeah, I think I could definitely use some sleep.” He said, as he hopped into Eddie’s talon, something he’d done many times before. He always felt a rush when flying, but he trusted his friend not to drop him.
Feivel settled into his nest upstairs -- much cheaper than renting an apartment. He very rarely slept in human form, he had much more space as a mouse. He burrowed a little deeper into the nest, calling out to Eddie to wish him a good night, before drifting off into sleep.
