He shouldn't have been here. He knew he wasn't the stealthiest and there was always a chance that if he was spotted the police or even Aegis would be called. He just hoped if Aegis came it was Benthis that would show up because he knew at least he was nice and not likely to arrest him on sight. He wasn't sure how he'd explain this - Well no. He wasn't sure whether anyone would believe him. He knew how he'd explain it. His parents were scientists that worked for the research facility. They had experimented on him - he had no doubts about that now - and those experiments had resulted in him getting powers. This facility was an evil place, even if the public didn't believe so. He knew it firsthand. Julian believed him but he hadn't told anyone else. If he could break in and get to his parents' lab, perhaps he could get proof that the research facility was taking part in illegal human experimentation. Then he could get the place shut down. He knew Ivan's best friend and Aegis poster boy, Timothy Smith, worked here. It was the only reason he hadn't mentioned it to Ivan - that and he wasn't as close with the other Stanes as he was with Julian. But if he could get proof maybe he could give it to Benthis and he'd make sure Aegis paid attention, that it didn't get swept under a rug. He didn't know any police officers he could trust and Benthis was quite literally the only person in Aegis he knew - Did Tim count? They'd never really met, that he could remember. Shane had found himself attempting to climb to the roof of the building to find an air vent. He really hoped the vents were large enough to crawl in, though he had a feeling television had lied about that part. He had his hearing aides in because he didn't want to risk someone sneaking up on him - and there was a chance he'd need to overhear something once he managed to get inside. Truth be told, he hadn't even made it all that far up - a few feet at most, climbing wasn't his strength - when he became aware of a presence behind him. He wasn't sure who he was hoping the most that it was but he was definitely hoping it wasn't either of his parents. He easily hoped down the few feet he'd climbed and turned slowly, body tensing as if expecting an attack, to see who it was. | ... tryna stand on my own two feet. this conversation's not coming easily and darling i know it's getting late, so what do you say we leave this place? ... ichor |
