neverland is home to lost boys like me lost boys like me are free ❧ He stood there watching the screens, each one showing a different angle of each of the attacks going on. He not only had the news' coverage of the attacks but he'd also hacked into several security cameras around each location. He'd had a feeling Perses would want to monitor the situation and he'd been correct.
He frowned, though, when he saw familiar fur at one of the attacks.
"Did we send Savage to the West End Community Center?" he asked, "Because I believe he is at the Community Center." He didn't recall receiving any orders to send Savage there and didn't really see the point. Hadn't he been given the day off to go do... whatever it was that he did on his days off? Amrit didn't really want to know what Savage did on his days off.
His eyes settled on the feed of the attack at Aegis' headquarters. This posed both a possible issue and usefulness for their plans to get Nihilo out of Aegis' custody and into the Cabal's. There was a possibility that this would give Nihilo an opportunity to escape on his own. That would mean they'd have to track Nihilo down all on their own, either convince him to come with them, or just kidnap him.
Either way that sounded like more work than he thought was worth it.
There was also the possibility that all these attacks, especially the one at their headquarters, would leave Aegis in enough disarray to make the "rescue" of Nihilo, well, easier. Of course Amrit knew it wasn't an actual rescue. It was recruitment under the disguise of a rescue. He just also knew it wasn't his place to mention that to Ryan Amador. If Perses didn't want Ryan to know that then Amrit wasn't going to tell him.
"What are the plans to acquire the asset?" he asked, referring to Nihilo, looking from the computers to the two men in the room with him. "We could use these attacks to our advantage. Perhaps strike while Aegis is still recovering?" It was purely a suggestion. He knew better than to try to give out orders.

i'm taking it slow feeding my flame shuffling the cards of your game ❧ He hadn't seen these attacks coming and that frustrated him. Despite the death of Arthur Glass, he hadn't really considered this Bakuhatsu to be a major player. But these attacks... Their timing made it clear to him that they had been orchestrated by the same person and that they weren't random at all. It made him wonder why this Bakuhatsu man wasn't already part of the Cabal. He could've been a major asset.
He stood in the same room as Amrit with Caleb Voclain lurking in the background. There were a couple Cabal agents stationed at computers in the room, as there always was until Amrit took control of the computers, but he didn't think they mattered enough to notice who they individually were. They didn't have any power and thus they didn't matter. The only two in the room who gained his attention were the two with abilities.
He frowned at the same moment Amrit did, noticing the fur as well. His frown was one of displeasure, though, unlike Amrit's clear confusion.
"We did not," he answered, his voice giving away his displeasure. "He was supposed to be having a day off." He doubted Savage had decided to play hero so it must have been a coincidence that he was at the community center. He sighed. There was admittedly so much he could do to try to control a man like Jesse Creed. He'd accepted that a while ago, much to his personal annoyance.
He glanced to Amrit at the teenager's next question and even a suggestion. He knew very few in the Cabal who were willing to suggest any plan rather than leave it all to him. Amrit was one of the few that could get away with it because of his intellect. Often times his suggestions were very useful.
"We could strike while the attacks are going on," he explained, "But there are issues with that." For starters if any civilians were caught in the crossfire, he knew any of the Amadors would want to help the civilians. And he needed the Amadors to be there. But he kept that information to himself.
"We need that nullification technology to be finished," he continued, "Or close enough that you can finish it yourself. Do we know the status of the nullification technology Surge is working on creating?" no more heroes left to save you just the keepers of the bleeding sun ❧ Caleb stood in the back of the room, leaning back against the wall, one foot up, resting against the wall, his knee bent. He didn't really know why he'd been requested in the room but he had a feeling he was going to find out eventually. He would've liked to know ahead of time but he knew from experience that wasn't how things went here. He'd find out when Perses deemed it time for him to find out.
He cocked an eyebrow at Perses' obvious displeasure. There weren't many people he'd show any real emotion around. He wasn't sure why he and Amrit were on that list. He also wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to be on that list.
"Do you need me to extract Savage, sir?" he offered, his tone more casual than serious. He would go get Savage, if ordered to, but he didn't really care what the other man did if they weren't on an official mission together. Savage was the Cabal's problem and not every Cabal problem was his problem.
When the mission to acquire a new asset - this Nihilo - was brought up, he knew that was why he'd been requested. He'd known for a while that he'd be partaking in that mission, he'd just yet to find out his specific role. He knew he'd find out eventually either from Perses or Amrit.
He also knew there was a secondary mission that involved some nullification technology Timothy Smith was trying to develop. Or perhaps acquiring Nihilo was the secondary mission... Knowing Perses, he knew either was possible.
He was still listening to the other two in the room, but his eyes were on the live footage of the attack on the Community Center. There were a lot of civilians caught up in all of this. He wasn't naive enough to believe the lies about Aegis being the bad guys, to believe that the Cabal were automatically the good guys. He just told himself he didn't care.
He'd long since convinced himself that he just didn't care. neverland is home to lost boys like me lost boys like me are free ❧ He didn't comment further on Savage because, from the looks of it on the screen, it seemed like Savage was handling himself fine and extracting himself from the scene. That and he thought the upcoming mission was more important than any damage Savage might cause.
His attention was fully on Perses when the man addressed him. He glanced briefly to the computer screens, his left hand flickering a pale green as he waved it across the screens. He frowned in concentration, his mind working on calculations and possibilities. He needed his answer to be as accurate as he could get it.
"I had assumed within a few days," he replied matter-of-factly "But with these attacks, that timeline could extend to a week or even two. I will have a better estimation when the attacks have concluded and it is clear the amount of damage Aegis has taken."
There was also the chance that these attacks, specifically the one on Aegis' headquarters, allowed Nihilo to escape on his own. That would require a plan to force him to come to the Cabal, rather than manipulating him into willingly joining. And of course, Amrit knew there was manipulation involved. He noticed more than he admitted.
"Depending on the damage they take," he added, "It could make our goal easier to accomplish. Though it could also present complications. It could have the opposite effect and make Aegis more guarded."
He knew they were hoping for these unexpected attacks to throw Aegis off but he was certain that none of them knew whether or not that would actually happen.
Another screen caught his attention.
"Viper is at the docks," he announced, nodding to the screen that showed the scene, civilians dropping from poison. "Dove and Triton are no doubt not far behind. It seems he did not let the attacks stop his mission. The assets should arrive shortly."

i'm taking it slow feeding my flame shuffling the cards of your game ❧ He waved a hand dismissively in Caleb's direction though didn't turn to look at him. So long as any damage Savage caused didn't come back to be his problem, he didn't care that much.
"Savage can take care of himself," he replied, though the displeasure was still evident in his voice. Sometimes he wondered if Savage was worth the trouble but then he remembered what the man was capable of. For now, he was worth it.
Of course these attacks would likely push back the timeline for acquiring the nullification technology and Nihilo. He'd get a better idea of how much it'd be pushed back from Ryan, who was still pretending to aide Timothy Smith on the technology, answering any questions the hero had on nullification as if he actually thought Timothy was a hero. Perses had been correct in his choice to send Ryan in on that task and naturally he was smug about being correct.
"Null will help you get a better time estimation," he told Amrit, having no doubt Ryan would prove useful and helpful. After all, he'd spent years making sure any of the Amador children would be as useful as he needed and wanted them to be.
He turned this time, halfway, eyes falling onto Caleb. "Your task will be to acquire the nullification technology and any research our dear Mr. Smith has on a cure for Nihilo. You and Null will be team leaders but leave acquiring the asset to Null. Reader, Tempest, Fallout, and Frequency will keep Aegis busy. They know who to target, depending on whose there..."
His voice trailed off when he heard that Viper had arrived at the docks. His eyes were instantly locked on the screen, his expression calculated but serious. Ah, there were the vigilantes arriving. A grin grew on his face as he watched the fight. He knew the attacks wouldn't impede on Viper's mission. In fact, when word reached the news, they'd probably blame this Bakuhatsu. And that allowed him to continue to work from the shadows.

no more heroes left to save you just the keepers of the bleeding sun ❧ He was admittedly relieved when he wasn't sent to retrieve Jesse. In his opinion, the less work for him the better. That and the fact that some goons were being taken out by a sniper on one of the screens told him it was highly likely that Bradley Alans was there.
Even if they were on opposite sides, he still in a way looked up to Krackshot. He had a similar powerset and was an excellent sniper, let alone marksman in general. He'd studied many videos of Bradley's fighting style in order to incorporate it into his own training.
It didn't make having to go up against him easy, even if that seemed inevitable.
He straightened his back when Perses addressed him. He nodded when he got his orders, though he had a feeling more would come once the day of the mission arrived. He couldn't help wondering what the mission would be like when it actually happened. Would it be as easy as he hoped or would it pose a challenge? And just how many of Aegis' members would be there?
He opened his mouth to speak when Perses' attention clearly left him, closing his mouth to follow his boss' gaze. He recognized the vigilantes on the screen because for reasons he wasn't sure about the Cabal tracked them.
His brows furrowed with confusion. He didn't recall hearing Viper or even Dove and Triton were being sent out. Didn't Aegis and the public believe Viper was dead? Judging by Perses' reaction, he guessed this was all according to plan.
"What are they doing on the pier, sir?" he couldn't help asking, his curiosity for once getting the better of him. 281 ● Perses ● Purposefully skipping Amrit. i'm taking it slow feeding my flame shuffling the cards of your game ❧ How long had he spent preparing for this moment? How much time, effort, and thought had he put into it? How many nights had he spent losing sleep in order to perfect this? How many people had he made suffer in order to get to this moment - to get right here?
Years. Countless hours. More effort than he'd put into anything else. Every thought in his mind. Many, many nights. Perhaps not enough people but still plenty had suffered.
It was finally all coming together. He had many plans that were coming together but this one was perhaps a favorite, possibly even a pet project. No he hadn't been working on this one the longest - his longest lasting plan stood behind him in the room - but oh was it a favorite of his.
Perhaps it was an obsession by now. It hadn't started out as such - rather it had been like any other plan. But the longer it lasted, the more he put into it, the more they suffered... The more he found he enjoyed it.
So when Caleb asked him what seemed like such an innocent question, he grinned and turned to partially face the young man. There was so much no one in this room except him knew. So much that would be revealed in time. So he opened his mouth and gave a simple yet oh so accurate response.
