Double Life
ABILITIES: Nyx has abilities very similar to the mythical Strigoi Mort, an early creature reminiscent of zombies and vampires. In accordance with said myths she has some superhuman strength, speed, some shape-shifting abilities, claws, fangs, and minor healing.
Strength (Can lift boulder or car but not with ease. Will struggle in current state, but strong enough to hold most people or animals down in an attack despite their resistance.
Speed, max is probably 100 mph or so, that of a car, (wears down quick at that pace) usually more horse like, between 30-55 mph.
Shapeshifting abilities are heavily tied to blood. She can only shapeshift into living creatures she has “sampled” blood from, if you will, (not a single drop is more a slurp or quick gulp). Doesn’t matter if it is fresh or dried though both hold the DNA she needs to transform as long as there is enough of it. She can replicate said living being/creature’s appearance and voice perfectly. (Incapable of replicating powers just appearance and sound. More of a survival type thing or disguise.) She can replicate creatures as small as a mouse to as big as an elephant. (It is not an illusion, so it will have the same physical properties of said animal or person, with the exception of powers/abilities.) She can do some very small minimal shapeshifting without blood, (Say, trying to hide scars or her grey skin from society). To an extensive, almost perfect, replica of a person (down to perfect voice impression), using a decent sample/taste of their blood. It does not matter when the sample was taken. If she has tasted someone's blood once she will always have the knowledge/capability to transform into that shape/figure.
The smaller the form the easier it is to maintain for extended periods of time. Generally, a copy of another person she could maintain for about a day without needing to relax back into her original form. (Whereas something smaller she could maintain for longer and something bigger she could maintain for a shorter period of time.) She can hide away and take certain shortened breaks for maintain a form which can make her able to keep up an act for longer periods of time.
The fangs aren't as pronounced as saber-toothed animal or any of that but enough that, unless she attempts to shapeshift them away, they're easily visible when she opens her mouth to talk. She has a top set of fangs and a bottom set, like most carnivorous animals. The bottom set is smaller and less noticeable/pronounced than the top set. I would say close to a cat's teeth, or American badger, except she can hide her fangs by simply keeping her mouth shut.
The claws can come out at will, but also unwillingly/unconsciously. When her claws come out, they dig out from the beds of her fingernails, partially displacing her fingernails, and partially ripping out flesh from the tips of her fingers. Her healing ability does heal that area quicker than others. Making almost every time they come out painful, and blood involved. They can occasionally be co-earced back in after coming out unintentionally (usually by Lil), by relaxing/rubbing the muscles in her fingers. (Though it only really works if Lil has already calmed Nyx down a bit already.) They're similar to an American badger's claws, but wider to fit closer with her fingernails, mainly just adjusted to fit her hands if you will. So a decent thickness to help her climb things or maul attackers. They're pitch black and only come out of her hands.
Her healing is minimal and also brought about by blood. After drinking blood she can heal a bit faster than the average human. Her healing does not prevent scars. The more blood she has and drinks the faster she will heal.

Can sing. She's as smooth alto, with a wide range, (would not be caught dead doing so though).
WEAKNESSES: She can become exhausted and fatigued from too much use of speed or strength. She has 2 malformed hearts which make up 1 sloppy heart. This partially leads to the fatigue as does a badly malformed liver.
Her liver isn’t in complete failure yet as she acquires supplemental proteins and the like (that it fails to produce) by drinking blood. This currently makes her an obligatory hematophage (like mosquitos, she has to drink blood). (She also drinks like a vampire bat, so it’s cut, lick or slurp whatever, she has no weird sucky mechanisms or whatever XD, just sharp fang teeth.) Therefore, if she hasn't consumed blood in a certain amount of time (not immediate, a few days maybe) she will start to get sick and could go into liver failure. Said liver issues could be momentarily fixed with supplements or permanently with a liver transplant so she isn’t 100% an obligatory hematophage as she can live without blood she is simply unaware of an alternative solution.
Anytime she's uncomfortable with something or someone she almost immediately opts for anger as a way out of the situation. She uses anger to mask almost any and all emotions she has so she doesn't have to focus on feelings and can also keep people at a comfortable, arm's length.
Speaking of which she is somewhat uneducated. She isn’t 100% illiterate as she can read somethings and some words but she for instance cannot read even a children’s book as she can’t make out enough words to understand it.
On the same uneducated basis she knows her hearts and liver are trash but understands very little of the science behind it. She does understand that she gets very sick without blood (which can lead to coughing up blood if it goes too far into liver failure just fyi). She also understands that her shapeshifting is tied to it.
She has spent most of her life hiding in forested areas with her sisters and other outcasted mutated people from her book. She knows very little of society except for what she’s gathered from the people who experimented on her.
Due to hiding and said experiments she is severely malnourished, covered in scars, and may resemble a corpse or monster at times.
Her shapeshifting transition can be disturbing to behold as it resembles her bones breaking horribly and reshaping. In accordance, some transitions can be somewhat painful, and take some concentration to maintain.
She has a set of black retractable claws which dig out from under the bed of her fingernails in a painful manner. They often come out unconsciously and connected with her motions, which can lead to her accidental scratching or occasionally digging holes through the palms of her hands.
She is also extremely traumatized which makes her easily aggressive and aggravated and even a tad suicidal at times.

Appearance
GENERAL: In general, her face is soft, and girl-like which is a hard contradiction to her other features. It often gives any sentient prey a double-take/or pause before she sends them to their Maker. Her nose is on the smaller side but proportionate. Her mouth is a bit wider to fit her fangs (and is usually shut in the form of a scowl), yet also fairly proportionate. She has retractable black claws (which are accompanied with her blood when they come out), giving her the ability to climb things a bit easier than a normal person. She has fangs, which she uses in accompaniment with her claws to cut and slice prey so she can consume their blood. She has natural hooded eyes, and the irises are blood red. In general, her eyes are rather bloodshot from lack of sleep and stress. She has grey, ashen, kinda pale skin. Pallid white, somewhat long hair. When unwashed and unkept a bit of a tangled mess. Though when taken care of it's a brighter white and a tad wavy. Her eyebrows are thin and match the color of the rest of her hair.

She is easily aggravated, quick to anger, and somewhat standoffish.
Mannerism: She can often behave and act like an animal, even when in her base form. Mimicking the dogs, she was caged with as a child, or other creatures she's watched. Often making hissing or growling noises, occasionally running away on all fours, ravenously devouring food. She almost never copies any cute or nice mannerisms from animals but any she finds monsterr-ish or disturbing.
Mental: Anytime she's uncomfortable with something or someone she almost immediately opts for anger as a way out of the situation. She uses anger to mask almost any and all emotions she has so she doesn't have to focus on feelings and can also keep people at a comfortable, arm's length.
She has a lot of PTSD with some stuff. Especially anything relating to medicine or science, she quickly becomes uncomfortable with that. Or anything with her mutations or appearance/abilities being mentioned. She can also be depressed or suicidal at times. She often lacks sleep due to the nightmares that torment her at night.
She's a bit prideful in her abilities yet she's been convinced throughout her life that she is nothing but a horrific monster.
She's also easily flustered by things or people, and usually tries to react with violence and anger to purposefully get them to basically go away or hate her. She isolates herself often. (Basically if ya really wanna mess with her, be nice and sweet, and refuse to go away despite what mean/awful/or repulsive thing she does. Act a bit like her sister and she won't know what to do with it. ;D She will keep trying for a while to scare them off but will eventually end up tolerating them if they don't deter.)

She usually doesn't kill unless someone poses a threat to herself or someone she cares about. (just a little maiming). She's extremely protective of children yet has no idea how to interact with them. She will try to scare away sweet personality characters to the best of her ability but is less likely to physically attack them.

History
Nyx was a part of an embryo, made from scientists, that was genetically altered in an artificial womb. Part way through they realized what was supposed to be a single embryo had developed into two. Creating two malformed, genetically mutated twins, named; Nyx and Lilura (Lil). Right after birth they continued to experiment and test on the twins. Eventually realizing they seriously resembled the typical idea of “vampires”. This eventually led to their testing and experiments shifting to see if they could successfully fit the girls into culture’s ideas. (Which included not treating Nyx’s malformed liver in a normal manner, but rather, attempting to feed her blood.) Her double malformed hearts also led to a few emergency surgeries, which she was kept awake for.
Caren, the lead scientist tasked with genetically mutating and testing kids before and after birth, quickly realized Nyx was one of the first successful super soldier attempts from the embryos. To their dismay Nyx was not a willing subject. She made multiple attempts to fight or maul those testing on her and was usually talked down with threats to her sister’s safety. They struggled to detain the small child and often opted for heavy chains and the like. They even locked her away at night, in dog kennels with live dogs, to discourage her escape.
The day came where they pushed, and Nyx refused to stop pushing back. When the twins were about 8 or 9 years old, Nyx killed a large number of scientists, and escaped with her sister into the forests. The girls lived on their own for a couple years before a rogue scientist named Allyson found them. Already hiding from the other scientists with her mutated son, she took the girls into her care and attempted to raise them. She did her best to help the girls come to terms with their mutations and the like. Helping Lil; with her inability to feel pain, and Nyx; with her constant and intense pain.
When the girls grew to about 14-16 years old Allyson was discovered and “taken in for questioning” by the scientists. Caren quickly realized Allyson would never give up any information about the whereabouts of the children. Caren then opted for a twisted method of scaring them back. She had some guards (or whatever fits in this world) kill Allyson and hang her in the forest with a note. Nyx was the first to find Allyson’s corpse, and quickly killed the man hanging it up. This is also where the descent into her monster-esc nature, sped up. The claw marks on her face and neck were self-inflicted soon after completely mauling the guard. Unbeknownst to Nyx, her sister hid in the bushes and watched the ordeal in absolute horror.
After this Lil and Allyson’s son Haelvar, began coming upon other genetically mutated children who had escaped. Starting with a young boy with wings and patched skin, named; Alis. They began taking who they could in, against Nyx’s “better judgment”. Despite Nyx’s original protest she became somewhat protective of what children were around. This led to her often leaving the hideout to find food and necessities and fending off animals or any stray guards. She often lurks in the trees at night, people watching, or occasionally watching prey.
Upon occasion Caren is able to drug and kidnap Nyx and perform some experimentation and the like on her. Nyx very quickly escapes almost every time. At this point Nyx knows many of their weaknesses and either outsmarts or simply out fights them. Caren, knows this full well, and keeps her distant from Nyx and her wrath (when in possession of her). Either leaving lower scientists to perform things, or waiting until Nyx has been drugged enough to be incapable of harm.
