Nihilo relished going out on missions. Finally, he could be let off the chain, wreak some havoc, and really refresh and reload. It felt good. It was stress relief.
There was one twist to this mission that he and Ryan had been sent on: They were instructed to not be seen. Cameras and whatnot were already taken care of, Amrit was on top of that.
The rest of getting into the Astaria Research Foundation and keep from being seen by anyone? That was on Ryan and Nihilo.
Null, Nihilo reminded himself. If I don't want another lecture I have to call him Null.
Nihilo was hovering next to Ryan in the bushes outside the Foundation as they surveyed the guard patterns and double checked their way in. They'd already charted a course to get in, get the intel, and get out, with Nihilo using his powers to take care of any locked doors in their way. Kind of hard for a door to stay locked when the lock was annihilated by antimatter.
They just weren't allowed to be seen, they weren't told that they needed to make it look like they'd never been there.
Ryan was saying something about one guard that was in their path. He wasn't supposed to be there, he was distracted by something. Was that a kitten?
Didn't matter to Nihilo. It was time for action.
Nihilo moved quickly. He thought of it as "the speed of dark." When you turn on or off a light, the darkness leaves or returns at the same speed the light moves. That's how he liked to think of his speed. Just as fast as Him, just the other side of the coin.
The guard didn't have time to even react as Nihilo's anitmatter arm burned a hole through the bottom of his jaw out through the top of his head. Nihilo grinned at the sight, slightly disappointed he didn't get to draw out the pain this guy would have felt, but again, stealth was key, and that meant no witnesses were allowed to...
Nihilo blinked and swayed as he dropped to the ground, his feet touching the ground. He sighed, pouted, and then used his now-flesh-and-blood body to drag the dead guard away and ditch him behind a bush.
"I thought the mission parameters included "no witnesses." That's gonna be harder to do if I don't have powers, Ryan." he pouted.
Sometimes Ryan was a big fat wet blanket.
