Tayla was a shadow, slipping through the darkness, unnoticed, unseen. At least as far as she was aware. Wearing nothing but her haptic suit, she almost felt naked, but the portions that bulked themselves up for protection made her feel a little bit less exposed. It was fine though. She wouldn't feel any pain from what she was about to do. At least, not any physical pain.
There were about six guys moving some large boxes from a warehouse to a truck. Tayla was pretty sure they were drugs of some kind, but she didn't care what was really inside them. What she did care was that she was pretty sure these numbnuts had some connection to the name she'd gotten from that guy she'd beat the hell out of two weeks ago.
It wasn't much. She'd been beating up every two-bit crook or drug peddler she could find ever since she'd come to this universe. Just because she was pursuing other hobbies and interests didn't mean she still didn't want to finish this tyrant.
Again, though, it wasn't much. It was mainly rumors, whispers of someone that was pulling all the strings behind the scenes. Nothing confirmed, and mainly conspiracy theory stuff. Still, it was a lead. She had a name to work off of.
She dropped down from the rafter beam she had been watching them from, turning it into a roll. She grabbed the first mook by the head and then jerked it sideways, snapping his neck. She ducked back into the shadows as the rest turned, then slipped around and blinded another before bashing his nose in. She continued like this, doing the cloak and dagger thing, until she had one left.
"COME ON! FIGHT LIKE A MAN!" The last mook filled the empty air with gunfire, but she was already not there. She grabbed the gun, feeling that it was hot but not feeling any burn, and then slapped him with the butt of it, dropping him to the ground. She stood over him and punched him in the face, hard enough to hurt, maybe fracture some things, maybe even in her own hand, but not to knock him out. The vocal synthesizer she had finally figured out in her suit disguised her voice as she interrogated him.
"Tell me about him. Tell me where to find him. If you value your BALLS, then tell me everything you know about PERSES."
