"Selene, a word?" It was a simple question but still it held enough power to make Ardeshir feel like a child about to get scolded. The meeting had just ended and most had vacated the room. He'd been wanting to speak with Theo and Raphael, getting their opinions on all that had just transpired, when he'd heard a very distinct voice speak to him. He turned around partly to see Abraham Bishop, better known as one of his bosses, waiting patiently across the room - waiting patiently for him. Crap, what had he done? He couldn't think of anything he'd done or said that could've gotten him in trouble. Perhaps Abraham had another reason for wanting to talk with him, though he couldn't think of any other reason. Still there was no getting around with it. "I'll... Catch up with you two later," he said, brushing his fingers against Theo's hand and giving Raphael a smile. As soon as the two started heading out like the rest of their teammates, he took in a breath and huffed it out before willing himself to cross the distance toward The Phantom. "Sir?" Abraham chuckled. "At ease, you're not a soldier." Ardeshir let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. He didn't think he was in trouble. "I wanted to discuss this new... Gladius," Abraham explained, "Damn John - The man can come up with a catchy name." He shook his head but didn't seem actually annoyed, more amused. His attention then returned to the young man in front of him. "We're going to need mentors for Gladius - Well more mentors. Cassandra's a capable woman but it would be wrong of us to put it all on her shoulders." Ardeshir frowned faintly in confusion, unsure what that had to do with him. He opened his mouth to speak but Abraham seemed to already be a step ahead. "I wanted to see if you'd be interested," he said then clarified, "In helping to mentor Gladius." Ardeshir blanked. "I... Why me?" "I think it'd be a good opportunity for you," Abraham explained, "Besides you've helped Raphael a lot with his training so you already have some experience." "I..." Ardeshir glanced away, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm - I'm flattered, really." Abraham cocked an eyebrow. "You're more capable than you think, Ardeshir." Ardeshir's face felt hot. "I'm - I'm not doubting that-" He was. "I just..." He sighed, eyes returning to Abraham. "This breach in security... My identity possibly being in enemy hands... I - This affects my family. I just... I need to figure some things out first..." He trailed off as Abraham placed a hand on his shoulder. The Phantom smiled warmly at him, not a look many got from him. "I understand. Your family must come first after all. But this offer will still stand when you're ready to decide." Ardeshir nodded and Abraham squeezed his shoulder before exiting the room, leaving him the last one there, surrounded by the empty chairs. He wasn't sure he'd ever be ready and he certainly wasn't sure what Abraham saw in him... But he also didn't want to let him down. | ... take me to your only garden, i wanna see the world you found. just sit me underneath the trees, i wanna see what you believe ... selene @ n/a costumes minus masks Ardeshir's costume Abraham's costume 524 words Takes place shortly after Regrouping. |
