Being shot certainly wasn’t on the top of Wyatt’s to-do list, but when it happened he tried to take it in stride. He had just been patrolling the streets at night, as he was wont to do, when he heard an angry voice coming from a dark alley. That sounded like a perfect recipe for some heinous crime, so Wyatt quietly walked by. The light of the streetlamps didn’t illuminate far, but Wyatt heard everything. “Just hand over your money!” A harsh voice spoke. Wyatt brought out his rope, and flicked it, feeling his skin heat up as he pushed power through the rope, causing it to light up with a blue white glow, illuminating the scene in front of him. He narrowed his eyes and saw two figures, one holding their hands up, trying to placate the mugger, but Wyatt’s focus was on the man brandishing the gun. He was turning around, he had his back to Wyatt, but was alerted by the light. “What the-” He started,as he noticed Wyatt, dressed in his long, billowy coat, red handkerchief, and cowboy hat, but was cut off as with a flick of his wrist, Wyatt lassoed the man. He let out a scream as the rope looped around and burned him, struggling. Wyatt yanked the rope forward, causing the mugger to stumble and fall to the ground. Wyatt approached, keeping a tight grip on the rope, but letting the power die down. He turned to the man the mugger was threatening, giving a silent nod. He didn’t have a chance to say anything, however, as the mugger, who Wyatt thought had dropped the gun, raised it and shot it at him. White hot pain erupted in his left shoulder, and his grip on the rope loosened, and the mugger took that chance to start to run. He didn’t get far, however, as Wyatt grit his teeth, drew his blunderbuss, and sent a charge of energy through his body and out his gun. Even injured, his aim was precise, the energy slammed the mugger into the wall, coat smoldering, though it looked like he was merely unconscious. Wyatt lowered his gun with a hiss of pain as he moved his jacket, and he saw his white shirt was stained with blood. “Ah.” He mumbled, as he started to holster his gun, and gather the rope. He couldn’t worry about that right now, he would have to deal with it later, he had a person to tie up and another person that he needed to check to see if they were alright. He tried very hard to ignore the throbbing pain in his shoulder.

Donny wasn't sure whether he was just not in the mood to be mugged or far too tired to be mugged. He decided to assume it was both. He'd admittedly been distracted, fiddling with his phone, checking his schedule to make sure nothing conflicted - unfortunately he couldn't be in two places at once yet. The next thing he'd known, he was shoved to the side, turning just in time for his back to hit a wall. His phone fell from his hand, clattering to the cement.
Then there was the gun in his face.
You have got to be kidding me, he couldn't help thinking.
"Just hand over your money!" came the demand and Donny's hands instinctively went up the second the gun was pushed farther to his face. He couldn't believe people still mugged others in a world full of superheroes, especially in the city known as Aegis' home turf.
His hands were held up more in an attempt to get the mugger to calm down rather than in a show of surrender. Combat wasn't his strength but he was a doctor - He knew the right pressure points to pinch to get this man on his knees. Evidently he didn't have to.
He noticed the light first then the man - cowboy? - brandishing it who came up behind the mugger. It seemed to happen fast in his opinion as most fights tended to. The mugger was lassoed and forced to the ground. The hero's attention was then on Donny, who was already opening his mouth to remind him that there was still a gun when the mugger raised the gun.
"Look out!" he managed to yell just as the gun was fired. The mugger was dispatched quickly after that but Donny's attention was entirely on the man who had very much just been shot. He barely noted as the man holstered his gun and started to gather his rope, having already honed in the second he saw that stain with the jacket out of the way.
He moved, coming to stand right by the hero before he could start tying up the mugger, eyes focused on that wound, hand reaching up to gingerly push the jacket farther away so he could better inspect it.
"I'm a doctor," he announced softly without really thinking, the words a habit now. His hand moved to gently push at the collar of the shirt to get a better look at the wound even more. "Doesn't look like a clean shot - Bullet's still in and thus still a risk." His eyes didn't wander from inspecting the wound the entire time he spoke. "You need to apply pressure to slow the bleeding until we get you to a clinic..." He paused. The Factory wasn't too far, he knew. "My clinic's close." | ... you're the lighthouse at the edge of the sea. you're the only thing that makes any sense to me ... donny @wyattoakley outfit465 words Sorry about the wait! ❤ |

Wyatt paused in his attempts to loop up the rope as the man neared him. “Hmm?” Wyatt questioned as he went to touch his wound, and Wyatt pulled back, not wanting some random civilian messing with the still-bleeding hole in his shoulder. His fears were assuaged as the man explained he was a doctor. He allowed the man to pull at his shirt, though he stood frozen, unsure what to do, eyes on the unconscious body of the mugger.
He snapped to attention as the man mentioned going to a clinic. “No!” Wyatt exclaimed, stepping back from him, though his decisive voice was immediately undercut by a groan of pain he let out as his shoulder moved and he stumbled away. “I, ah,” Wyatt let out a hiss as he pressed his hand to the wound. “I ain’t goin’ to a hospital.” He explained, trying to keep his voice low and even. Wyatt figured the fact that he had half his face covered would make his reasoning obvious.
Wyatt lit up his right hand, the one over the wound, and energy pulsed under his skin. “I jus’… need to cauterize it. After I pull the bullet out?” Wyatt wasn’t going to admit, to the man or to himself, that his medical knowledge was somewhat lacking, especially with something as intense as a bullet wound. “I can do it myself.” He let the light in his hand die down, as it was starting to burn without a proper outlet, but not before catching sight of the doctor’s face for the first time, illuminated by the blue white light. He was real cute, but that was a fleeting thought that Wyatt pushed away, he had more pressing matters to attend to.
He shook his head as his shoulder let out another throb, but he ignored it, though Wyatt’s face twisted in pain. He just raised a blood-soaked hand and pulled his hat lower on his face, tipping it to the doctor. “Thank you kindly for the offer, but I best be running along now. Gotta take this sucker in.” He said, referring to the mugger. He paused for a moment, wondering how the hell he was going to carry or drag the would-be robber without the use of one of his arms. Especially if he had to use one hand to press into his shoulder.
He started to awkwardly loop his rope around the body, trying to stifle moans of pains as he attempted to pretend he was fine for the doctor, as blood dripped out of his wound. "Uh... try n'... stay safe out there." He mumbled.

His hand snapped back, concern flashing on his face as if worried he'd hurt the man when he suddenly exclaimed. As a doctor he was used to people exclaiming suddenly when they were in pain. The hiss of pain that followed told him he was at least somewhat right. But then the vigilante insisted he wasn't going to a hospital. Ah - So hospitals were the issue. While he personally just felt numb in regards to being in a hospital, he still understood why others despised and some even feared it.
Donny opened his mouth to insist that his clinic wasn't a hospital - not officially at least because details, specifically the legal kind - when the vigilante's hand over the wound started glowing. His heart lurched in his chest at the` mention of cauterizing the wound because no, it didn't work like that! God, he blamed television and movies.
He moved as if to grab the man's wrist and stop him but his hand was still glowing and there was a large chance that would hurt so he stopped himself and pulled his hand back again. He let out a breath of relief when the vigilante said he'd do it after he removed the bullet - which meant there was plenty of time to lecture him on how you do not cauterize a wound like that.
Then the vigilante was tipping his hat to him with a bloodied hand that only made the worry in Donny grow and insisting he be on his way. And then he was even trying to tie the mugger up. Donny's eyes, trained to look for any signs of pain, noticed every wince, every twitch of the man trying to hold in that very pain.
Donny took in a deep breath and let it out to try his best to not get utterly frustrated with this man. It didn't work.
He moved to put himself in the way of the vigilante, grabbing the upper part of his arm - the one not attached to the injured shoulder but was attached to the hand he was trying to apply pressure to the wound with. His grip was tight and firm in an attempt to shock the man's attention onto him and with all the strength he could muster, he pulled the man up and away from the mugger so they were both standing up straight, his eyes catching the vigilante's.
"I don't give a crap about whether he's taken in or not," he stated matter-of-factly, frustration lacing his words. He didn't pause to let the other man get any words in. "You have a bullet lodged into your shoulder and if it is not properly removed it can cause much more damage. You should not cauterize a wound with heat like that - It should be stitched to, again, avoid more damage." He tightened his grip more to try to prevent the vigilante from yanking his arm out of his grasp.
His voice lowered so that should anyone be passing by, he'd only be overheard by the man in his grasp. "I am going to take you to my clinic nearby. There I will heal you. It will be free and off the books, no record left. The cops will not arrest you for vigilantism. This is not up for debate." His own eyes flashed a brief, warm olive green glow at the last comment, his powers reacting to his frustration. Wyatt was focused entirely on the would-be robber right in front of him, the doctor moving to the back of his mind as he narrowed his attention. He tried to push back the pain that was threatening to overwhelm him, attempting, and failing, to keep his face blank and impassive. He couldn’t deal with this right now. He could worry about being hurt later, not right now when he still had this guy to take care of.
And, it wasn’t going too well, though he had mostly been able to tie him up, even if he was doing it with an extremely unsteady hand. Wyatt could thank all those years growing up on a farm for that. Wyatt had to admit that he had completely forgotten about the doctor, assuming that he left after Wyatt bid him farewell.
So to say that Wyatt was shocked when he was grabbed was an understatement. The power pulsing underneath his skin started to glow brighter, but immediately died down when Wyatt realized it was the doctor he had just saved. A wave of confusion went over Wyatt -- why was he still here? Was he STILL worried about the bullet? Why -- His train of thought was interrupted as the man pulled him away from the mugger by his arm.
“Ow.” He muttered as the doctor pulled on his arm, even though it wasn’t the shoulder that was hurt, it still aggravated the wound. Wyatt blinked in surprise as he met the man’s determined gaze. This didn’t seem like merely a helpless civilian.
"I don't give a crap about whether he's taken in or not," Wyatt opened his mouth to respond, but the doctor pressed on, and Wyatt, shocked at his tone, was stunned silent. He glanced away, a little embarrassed as the man explained how what he was planning to do to treat the wound definitely wouldn’t work. He grew more uneasy, however, the more he talked about his medical knowhow. It seemed like a sure thing that this guy was gonna force him to go to the hospital, and Wyatt really didn’t want to have to fight him.
Wyatt felt his grip tighten, and he tensed, but leaned in as the doctor lowered his voice. Well. That sounded nice. No cops, no hospitals, no questions. What was the catch? “Oh, I dunno--” Wyatt was about to decline, again, it sounded nice, but he wasn’t interested, but he froze as he made eye contact with the man again. It wasn’t just the glowing eyes that caught his attention, but the pure purpose and determination. He was serious about this, and Wyatt got the feeling that it wouldn’t end well if he refused.
“Alright, alright. Yes sir. Crystal clear.” Wyatt said at the doctor’s question. “Can you let go of my arm now?” He asked, but as he pulled away from the man he stumbled a bit, letting out another groan of pain. “Are you sure that I can’ just do it myself?” At the doctor’s look he just shrugged, which sent another wave of pain throughout his shoulder and body, and he let out another hiss of pain.
He looked over the unconscious and tied up body one more time before turning back to the man. “Aight, we can go. I can come back for ‘im in the morn. I’ll be fixed up by then, right?” Wyatt didn’t wait for an answer and left the alleyway, then paused, glancing at the doctor to lead the way, as he didn’t know the way to the clinic.
