How? She sighed because it was simple. She was normally more wise than her age but still this time she had let her temper get the best of her but no more at least not within the next five minutes she kept telling herself as she leaned up against the wall. It was so cold in here and so lonely and more than that so frightening. It was an accident really taking that little kid's bike but she, her memories had flashed here and there and though normally she did not let it take her over it had became too much and so she yelled at the man in the grocery store because it was the last bag of peas and she needed them and he refused to give them to her. Needless to say at the moment she had been booked on disturbing the peace and theft of property from a juvenile. Nothing that was too major but still it was going to keep her here behind bars a few hours until she could make her one phone call. She shivered as the woman passed her and she finally got to the phone. She dialed and spoke and took a seat. Three days later she had been bailed out thanks to the money left to her by a good friend but none of that mattered as she began to walk. She trailed along taking in everything as she got to an intersection and she paused. She looked up noticing the apartments and her memories flickered as she looked up staring much like a child in awe. Everyone knows the look, seeing something for the first time but not the true first time. He had warned her though going back somewhere you had been before for someone like her might cause memories of her time there to come back so she had to be careful. Do what she felt like she could handle but be cautious because memory was never anything to look over. Memories make us who we are and who we become and enhanced memory was the same. "The apartment" she finally said but it was just a whisper. She looked around and finally found the entrance and walked in. She noticed their was a person looking probably working their shift and she waved as they nodded and she decided to take the stairwell. She finally stepped off on the floor and made her way to the apartment and stood outside of it. "Crap," she said as she stared at the door. She put her hand on the door knob and gave a twist, everything being unsuccessful as far as her attempts to get in. However just at that moment the door opened and she stood silent. "Oh," she said. "I guess knocking should have been my first instinct," she said as she made her way in. "Did you make food? I'm hungry." Micah Nottingham

He had came to the very solid conclusion that he would never know why she was the way she was. Honestly most the time just thinking about it gave him a headache so he avoided it all together and simply went along. Most people would say it made him weak but to him it was easier and he liked easy. He even preferred calm and not wild like the winds of a hurricane even if sometimes he felt like he was standing directly in the eye of one when it came to Trove. None the less he had been tasked with the damn near impossible task of making sure she got settled back in well and did not do anything too wild. He had always been the one who got the blame when she did but that was okay it made him more of a man in a way or so he told himself late at night to sleep better. Micah had not did much besides self examination of whom he was as a person while he had ducked himself under and away once again. He promised no more though since he was going to be twenty three soon. Everything was a lot more settled and routine for him now and he could deal with that fine. Still it did not take but one gust of the hurricane that was talking to him to knock all of that out of balance but no, he had this he was going to make sure of it. He had to be stern, stick by what he said and be the strong one which was such a difficult task for him as he listened to her. He had thought that perhaps they had both grown and dare he say matured together until she made her way in without so much of an excuse me. Still the same Trove which made him slightly uncomfortable. He finally turned around himself as she spoke about food and her hunger and he looked at her. Normally it would have been a look of love but this was a look of concentration as he watched her still. Someone he had known for so many years standing somewhere they had both been and honestly having absolutely no reaction was not what he expected. He still stared slowly blinking his eyes because what in the entire hell was going on here. He yearned for it to be maturity but he honestly knew better. At least at that moment he figured he knew better but what if he knew nothing and maturity had someone settled in over the past few months for the both of them. His emotions tried to flare up the wings of happiness and confusion intermingling but he took in a slight breath and let it out calmly. However the actions of his emotions flaring up sent his leg into motion and he let out a second, somewhat deeper breath. She had his card and he felt like she was about to check mate him. The simple thought of it made him almost lose all of his composure and go dumbfounded. "No one's been in this apartment for a while, it's how I was able to get it back along with the security deposit and the promise of no wild parties of course. If you want food you are going to have to order some, besides kind of hard to make pea soup without peas anyhow." He shrugged, doing his best not to slump as he felt his leg calm down and he quickly went and sat on the floor. He missed the furniture but new furniture would be delivered soon. Fresh, new, soft, warm. All words he somehow associated with what he needed now and had needed for a while but not because of anything bad simply because he felt himself becoming such a grump and he did not want that. "So.." he said with extreme caution in his voice. "Welcome home." It was still a little strange to him but she had told him this was as close to as home as she was going to get and he understood that. "I like this new, mature side of you. It's very..good to finally see." He slightly smiled but it was still filled with cautionary movements, a slight look of worry in his eyes. Cae Mire

She could tell simply by the body language that Micah was producing he seemed off. It was not a bad thing but more of a sense of being uncomfortable. Considering the last few months she did not blame him. Still she knew it was not her place to speak about it quite yet and she figured he would in time so for now she was attempting to solely put her focus on bettering herself and thus those around her. She gently tucked her hair behind not one but both of her ears as she thought of what to say. Responses seemed to be key at the moment. "I'm glad there was still a space here for us then" she said. She had never tried to fit in and she did not see this as that but a small nook to help escape the world when you felt you needed it the most was something she enjoyed. She did not mind not being seen and going on about her day. "I have never thrown a wild party in my life and if I decide the apartment will not be the place." She knew it was best to keep herself secluded from a lot of people due to her ability of enhanced memory. Her memories swirled and danced weirdly enough on their own with her every day life activities a party would just be asking for trouble. She noticed the lack of enthusiasm in his greeting but she let it go. He would adjust fine enough in time for as far as her memories told her he always seemed to. "You should let go of your nervousness it's coming through brighter than a shining light out of a lighthouse." She let out a small laugh and let it pass also as she turned around looking at the empty space. "I'll make a peanut butter apple cinnamon sushi roll. I always find in making it, it somehow has the right amount of twists and the small sprinkle of cinnamon dashed across the top is always a crowd pleaser though we are not a crowd still I find that the saying fits perfectly." He carelessly ran his hands through his head. "I'm fine, well I mean I am okay." He had learned in his time to be more honest with himself so his river of truth would flow seemlessly and not tangle him up. Not that he had ever lied to anyone he just felt more at peace like this. Still he looked around once he had fixed his hands so that they would not shake like his leg but nowhere near as bad. "Once the furniture has arrived then we will be able to straighten it up and it will be like we never left," he said as he smiled but still weary. He was sleeping better than he had in months but he still knew he was, well he called himself unique. "Well we should do that but a bit down the road. I have never attended a wild party so the both of us would be experiencing something new and with people which is good." He could tell that he was more comfortable and he liked it. He smiled widely when she mentioned sweets. "If you want to go right ahead." He needed to give the apartment a look over once more but it seemed fine. "I do like how the twists come out since you never know what you will find once you start to unfold it." Cinnamon obviously but the way it spread due to being heated. "How much cinnamon I mean." One thing that she knew for sure was that Micah had forever talked in doubt. He had the words and the ideas but his executions and confidence seemed to always fall a little short however she had learned to accept and work around this which made them a good pair. Two people with common goals most the time and two people who needed to learn to anchor one another in uncomfortable situations and even ones such as this that were scary yet familiar at the same time. "I can work with okay. I think in time it will turn to fine and yes furniture helps a decent bit but look around now and see all the space as I am doing as I gather what I need and I guess in a way gather myself together too." One thing about Cae was that she had too much confidence, too many memories that flowed through her mind at once and too many directions that she was going to try to reach out into but she was wise enough for the most part to have good control over it however she was not invincible and everything, every person, every situation did leave small trinkles of effect here and there however Micah was someone she had been centered around since she was twelve, perhaps thirteen so it was easier to be around him than most. It struck chords in her that she did not understand for love was not an emotion she cared to know about, so in her mind and in her sea of memories it came across like fear or worse in her mind co dependence. Something they both needed to grow out of but for the moment neither felt strong enough alone to proceed with. "I personally give you about ten minutes at a true rager of a party before you cower in the corner but for now that is neither here or there," she said as she began to go through the fridge and after pulled down a few mixing bowls and began to get started. She looked down at her hands in the dough and a few strands of her hair fell down as she still mixed the dough. Once it was mixed enough she picked up a few strands of the dough and began to twist it making sure to keep the dough on the counter for she did not want it to hit the floor. Memory Flux # ?
"I am never going to learn how to do this," Cae said as she picked up the bowl of dough and turned towards the fridge to put it in but watched as the bowl slipped off the edge of the shelf rack and hit the floor. "Great,"
"Great," she said as she looked up at Micah. "Hey you are many things but helpless is not one, if you want to eat you got to carry your weight, get to helping me twist." Nowhere had she ever said she was to be nice. "Wait no, I'll twist and you put the cinnamon on I think you are better at that than me." Micah Nottingham

"Okay then," he said quietly. He was being more precise this time because if he did not then he felt her memories might start to flux from place to place worse than they already did and though he personally felt like nothing could be done about that he was not going to purposefully be a catalyst for it. He watched her movements and the slight freeze she seemed to take like something was going on with her memories but he was ignoring it for now and would only say something if it seemed like she was going to completely start spazzing when it came to how they flashed through her head. Sadly it was still a whole hell of a lot more difficult than he would ever understand. "Well I know I am not generally helpless but some of the important things make me feel it but for now I am good and I can do that." He hated it because dough was gross. He got up and moved and opened the cabinet and looked over the spices. It drove him crazy how she had seemed to go out of the way and initial them weird and on top of that not even put them in some kind of order that seemed to make any sense at least at first glance. He finally found the cinnamon and held up the small round jar. "You should grow your own cinnamon the store stuff is lacking." He watched and then began to sprinkle the cinnamon on carefully. "Why do you label your cinnamon with a cn and not just a c?" His mom had always labeled it with a simple c but he was also a child then and did not understand things as well as he did now. Cae Mire

Cae was fine baking and being still and keeping things in order as she watched Micah. This was small but important and she watched him move. When you had watched someone grow seeing them as a full individual person with flaws was still hard at times but moments like these were good too. She placed the final twist down and turned to wash her hands when she bumped against him as he was talking. MEMORY FLUX # ?
Her eyes blinked as she watched the bump and she knew she had to be still. It was a tight corner that she had gotten herself into and up past her bed time. If they heard her then they would correct her as she needed being a child and not following the rules. She closed her eyes tightly and stayed as still as her body and the tiny space would allow.
The scents of the spices came down and caused her nose to react and she let out a sneeze. "Achoo," she said lightly as she looked up and seen a pair of eyes staring back up at hers. She looked up at him as she heard him ask about her labels. "Well I was never one for following traditional labels is all," she said as remnants of the cinnamon 'danced' up into the air and around her nose. "Achoo!!," she said as the sneeze caused her head to go down and her hair once again to flicker like reddish brown strands in the wind as she looked up at Micah as she covered her nose. Her eyes caught his for a slight second as the memories fluxed out of her control as always. MEMORY FLUX # ?
She watched carefully as she blinked again and instead of getting in trouble she was handed a cinnamon twist. Golden brown and so much sugar and butter as she looked it over and then took a bite and held her thumb up as a sign of approval. Like any other kid, this younger version of Cae gave approval more with her hand gestures than her words. She took another bite and was then sent to her room without reprimand and she was glad for that. She blinked and shook her head to shake the memory as she let out a sigh. It was not fun having these memories flux like this knowing that the slightest thing could cause it but she liked it sometimes. She could use it to help people sometimes and that was what mattered the absolute most to her. She went to go speak again when another sneeze came and this one was so hard it did bring tears out of her eyes as she widened her eyes to help the release of the water. As she did some of the fibers against her retina gently pulled and she seen a flicker of 'sparkles' in front of her eyes. MEMORY FLUX # ?
"I know why you're so silent Micah, this is amazing right?" Yep somewhere they were not supposed to be again and way past curfew but it was okay. It was the best night for looking up and seeing how the stars seemed to sparkle and twinkle as they seemed to do from time to time."
She quickly wiped her eyes and the water too. "Yeah these are ready for the oven I'd say." Micah Nottingham

He was loosening up and having fun at least as far as he knew how to have fun anyway but he still watched her. He often stared at people to learn their cues social and otherwise because it helped him in conversations and interactions because otherwise he would become a bumbling idiot and he had been taught that as he got older that was something that there had to be less of. "Don't bump the help," he said as he watched her. He hated when she went quiet because he always assumed the worse. Maybe her memories were playing or maybe she was planning and just thinking it through. Both things gave him chills normally but today he just told himself to let this roll. He slightly turned his head and he noticed how Trove had one cheekbone that was slightly higher than the other one. What the hell how had he not noticed that before none the less he spoke, still quiet. "Makes sense especially since traditions are so wide spread out," he said as she sneezed. He felt a small chill run along his arms but did not fret because it was nothing that he wanted to freak out about. All he wanted to do when she looked at his eyes was ask her why but he just slowly blinked. He knew he had eyes that functioned as they should but another chill and he simply shrugged. Lucky for him she sighed and he felt an ounce of relief. He started to speak when Trove sneezed again. Micah wanted to run for the hills with the way she seemed to be reacting to the cinnamon. Her sneezes were not bad they were just constant and he had no idea how to take this. He was sure he was just blowing it out of proportion in his mind so he looked at her again. Yea sure enough she definitely had one cheekbone that sat up higher than the other. He estimated that her left cheekbone sat up slightly higher than her right one. It gave her face a slightly fuller effect and he was way more attracted to it than he should be. He was way more attracted to her than he should be. "Gross," he mumbled under his breath. It made him want to puke as he watched her wipe her eyes and some of the water flickered on him. Luckily he did not have time to respond as she spoke but he did move out the way so far as a matter of fact that he ended up on the other side of the room as he realized he would give his jittery leg for some furniture right now that he could hide under. For time being the corner he had found would have to do as he looked up at the ceiling. Normally he had good control over his emotions but this was new. "Trove," he said because he wanted her to understand what was about to follow next. "Whatever is going on with your memories, I mean however they might be playing out right now I need to know. I told you that this particular time around was all about the wavelengths and learning more about refractions." In order to understand a multiple of something during his time away he had learned that it meant that one had to go back and individualize the components and that was exactly what they were doing. C before CN. Child before Adult. Past before Future. They had been the key to the fulfillment of one another's greatest moments in life and this was hopefully the start of another but he now knew you had to put the single things together and watch it build onto one another giving an effect of multiples, widen your wavelength and all your chemistry, all your make up and life story will click together as it should. "Use your words to walk me through the trove of memories in your head and I.." He paused because the self doubt was strong. "..I think I will be able to put us on the same wavelength." It was something he wanted to be cautious about because it was layered and layers were scary as hell to him. Peel them back and you discovered things that you knew about yourself but you also discovered things that you never wanted. "It will not be easy but it will be mostly successful and I can accept that. You're the key to unlocking it, just comes down to if you think you can work through your memories long enough and keep your focus long enough at the same time." Cae Mire

She nodded as she put the twists in the oven. She thought she heard Micah mumble something under his breath but if he did not have the nerve to say whatever was on his mind out loud then she did not care. She watched him start to be awkward and she leaned against the counter as he found himself a spot in the corner. "Hm?" she said when he called her name. "There is nothing going on with them at least nothing out of the ordinary." She was going to be honest. "As you know everything can be a trigger I just do not know what or when or how they trigger. Some are intense and some are not." It was the water that had came out of her eyes that had seemed to make him feel like he needed to find a corner and hunker down and now do what, have a talk? Cae could care less about having a talk she simply wanted to over stuff her face with cinnamon twists and regret it later. She lifted herself up on the counter. "I know what you said and I believe you for the most part but your history makes it hard to want to open up to you. Micah if we start going through my memories as they come and get on the same wavelength as you put it and you break it I can not promise I will not want to choke you or poison you. A girl only has so much patience but now that we covered that I guess it might be okay to test it out a little." Her legs began to sway as she leaned her head back. "If you are trying then I am trying too so here's how I classify my memories. Take here for instance they fluxed and it was just me younger sneaking and eating cinnamon rolls and one was us sneaking around and you as always being silent. I classify them like I do colors which is what I think you were telling me when you had me study that color theory which I am able to understand a little bit better now. "Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. Some of my memories follow off into others and eventually will connect but it's all a blend and some stand out on their own only to be mentioned once because they are better as stand alone." She looked back to check the timer and she still had a few minutes before her twists were done. "Once they have fluxed in my head I write some of them down and look at them using a hue of how they appeared, a chroma to figure out how pure the memory is or made me feel and then I throw a lighting on the situation to see if it really happened how I remember or if other experiences have saturated it down as it plays out in my head now." It was a lot but she felt a little better actually talking about it now. "I am not even going to go into how difficult it becomes if they start seeming to layer but you know about color theory a little so you can just imagine." She was happy talking about it and she could not say that it had ever made her sad it just was a lot to take in so she had been delicate when it came to talking about it. She got down off the counter and pulled the twists out and stood over them taking in a smell of the delicious scent as she watched them cool. "Take for instance this wavelength you keep talking about. I don't get it but if you say that you can make it work then I believe you. I guess it is because in my mind wavelengths are like a spectrum." She picked up a cinnamon twist and took a bite and moved out of the way but she did point to them so he could get some if he wanted. "That would take us into frequencies and that would move around into talking about a rainbow and if we got around to that then we would be" It was her turn to get quiet but she hid it better by stuffing that cinnamon twist in her mouth. "Uhm" she said between mouths of cinnamon twist pieces. "So delicious" she said as she finished eating it. "Spectra and scales and color theory and wavelengths and you tricked me." She did not even mumble it because she wanted him to hear her though her voice was mixed with disappointment and happiness. "Hey if you finally want to live up to Spectra then I'm all for it. Trigger my memories all you want just know I'm not responsible for any harm that I might do to you. I do recall breaking your arm one time so that would be fun a second time around." Micah Nottingham

He watched her and he nodded. If she was being truthful and it was nothing out of the ordinary that was fine but he did not believe that. Memories were good and bad and more often on how he experienced them emotion filled but they were different people so for now he had to take her at face value which only drew his attention to her cheek bones again and he shook it away. "I am not talking about the past at least not as much. I have dealt with most of that as I imagine that you have so this is a more of a step by step thing to keep things in order. It is something that we can both benefit from and in a way bloom." He smiled at that thought because it did bring him joy and plus Trove was being okay at the moment and that was good by him. It was safe and not as scary though he stayed where he was still listening. He watched her get on the counter still listening though he was slightly distracted by her legs swaying but quickly shook himself out of it. "Fluxed" he noted as he still listened. He remembered younger her and younger him too but still he listened even more to her. The widening and slight flicker of his eyes gave it all away it being the fact that at that moment his interest was so wide open and he blinked as she went on. "I did think that eventually your study of color theory would come in handy," he said proud of the fact that he had suggested it and even prouder that in her own way she seemed to have been able to find a way to use it. His eye brows furrowed when she began to talk about hues and chromas. He would have to do a little more research on that which thinking about it only made his head hurt but in due time which thinking about it like that made him feel more relaxed. "So sometimes you feel like your memories can stack but you are not sure?" He had questions and this time he was going to ask as he looked at her. She still seemed comfortable while she was talking about it so he stayed relaxed to as he was paying attention to her cues and thanking goodness for his perception. Trove was not giving off any other signals that might otherwise alert him to the fact that she might be uncomfortable such as bumps on the arm or twitches of the fingers so maybe this was really her being as comfortable as she could be discussing this particular topic. He did however give a little jump when she got down off the counter and cussed himself out underneath his breath as he looked up at the ceiling for a few seconds and then he spoke. "Yeah wavelengths and spectrums are, or do rather work well off of one another for a good part I think." He listened more. "Well frequencies are harder and rainbows or rainbow like effects are harder but I do agree that eventually it will all turn there, or meet there is a better way to word it I think." "The twists do smell good," he said as he heard her accusing him of doing something. "Trove," he said carefully. "I could not imagine tricking you. I don't have it in me to trick you I mean," he said being slightly insistent on the fact. He shook his head. "Nah see that is where you are wrong. I could never get into living up to something that is a mind set that always sets someone up for failure but coming into my own and being comfortable with who I am and how my enhanced perception works because I understand it better that is something that I crave." He liked using the word crave because he felt like it would give him a taste of satisfaction though that was the only way he knew how to describe it. "I crave things in a different way, tastes on a different level and I always have ever since I learned to eat and had a taste for particular things that go beyond what the average person sees as food." He shook his head. "Violence is never the answer Trove," he said as he spoke again. "Did you know that one of your cheekbones is slightly higher than the other one?" He took a minute to hold up both of his index fingers, one a little higher than the other and then he slightly began to move them slowly. "Isn't it strange how no matter how you frame your face one will always sit up slightly more higher than the other, it's almost like a little ping sound if someone could play a sound among your face. It is something that somehow makes your face perfect and yes not at the same time, that's something I would say is worth giving a look into a mirror for wouldn't you?" Cae Mire
