Erebus leaned back against his seat and sighed, ready for this day to be over. He had two more classes left and all of his students' assignments were graded, put into the gradebook and ready to be handed back. He was caught up and he was so damn glad about that. He looked at the coffee machine that was tucked in one corner of his office and debated on making him a strong cup of the death coffee that his nephew drinks. He needed the energy, and he didn't feel that the tea he had would give him that energy.
He got up and decided to make himself a pot. As he waited for his coffee to brew, he stretched and felt his back crack, letting out a small, pleased noise at the feeling. It was at that moment that he realized that he had to prepare for next semester classes. Like explaining to the Dean of the science section why he refused to use the Keller books. Ugh, he knew he had to write his explanation again. He got that the Kellers were great scientists, but he did not like their methods and would rather use other people who used a lot more ethical methods and were more diverse than the standard white people.
He sat down with his hot mug and pulled out a sheet of paper, already writing down his explanation of the matter, along with the books he would use instead of the Kellers. He glanced at his door, noticing movement and blinked. He noticed a young man standing there and wasn't sure how long the man was standing there. Was he reading his hours? Or the various pieces of papers that listed what he did, his classes and what he would be teaching in each semester? Or was he just nervous? He could tell that the man was uncomfortable and had what seemed to be high anxiety, but how long was he standing there? Goodness, it looked like he was trying to hide with how small he looked and how it looked like he was trying to shrink into his hoodie.
"Sir? Are you okay?" He called out, getting up from his chair. He walked over slowly, having to use a cane due to his lack of a leg, but he felt that he needed to be closer to the young man, to reassure him or something. "Hey, buddy. You look like you need a good cup of tea. Would you like to come in and share a cup of some nice gotu kola and holy basil blend tea? I find that it is light and refreshing, especially with a bit of honey to add a touch of sweetness." Erebus spoke clearly, even as he reached up and put one of his hearing aids back on, having taken it off earlier due to discomfort on his right ear.
