He admittedly disagreed that staying at the hospital was best for Honos - honestly it irked him that someone had already told the teenager Tim was hurt before any of them knew the details of Tim's condition. But Honos was Orion's son and dating Orion didn't give him any say in what Honos did. So he bit his tongue as his hand was grabbed and he was guided away, Monica glaring at the receptionist before following.
Adara had already plopped down in a seat with a very tired huff of air by the time they arrived and sat down as well. Scott sighed and leaned back in the chair before sitting up again, his own nerves rattling around in his head. He didn't like waiting. And honestly the situation with Tim wasn't the only thing digging up his anxiety and shoving it in his face.
Orion spoke again and Scott and Adara exchanged a look. Monica shook his hand and introduced herself, "Monica Stane, Scott's mother." She opened her mouth to say more but Scott held a hand up.
"You can't do that, Orion," he said, referring to his boyfriend's plan. "If--" He held back many questions. "With Tim as Honos' godfather, Honos can legally get in to see him. You can go with Honos because he's a minor and you're his legal guardian. Ivan and Adara have no relation to Honos so neither of them can go with him. And honestly Ivan shouldn't."
He still didn't think it was a good idea for Honos to go in, especially if Tim was in a coma or worse. He didn't think seeing Tim in that state would do any good and he knew for a fact it wouldn't do Ivan any good to see his best friend like that.
"Ivan is an adult," Monica pointed out, earning a frown from her eldest son.
"Who has anxiety, who overthinks things, who doesn't react well to a variety of things, including his loved ones being hurt," Scott threw back, "And we both know what happens when he doesn't react well to something. Tim is in the ICU. Ivan doesn't need to see that."
Monica lightly rolled her eyes which only frustrated Scott more. "I can at least help Alice get in--"
"No," Scott snapped, his own frown now mirrored by his mother. "Alice is understandably emotional right now and the last thing we need is someone who isn't meant to be in the hospital's system in it, especially when they're emotional. And seeing Tim's condition isn't going to help Alice."
With that, he caught some of what Honos had said, nudging Orion gently with his elbow and gently saying, "Honos, you shouldn't hack the hospital. That's illegal." He noticed the arched eyebrow from Monica. "What? There are rules we have to follow."
"Ironic coming from you," she pointed out and he knew she was referring to him being an illegal vigilante.
His hands started to glow from frustration and he quickly stuffed them in the pockets of his jacket. "I'm aware. And it shouldn't be ironic saying it to a God damn agent of the FBI."
"We should be allowed back there."
"I don't care. The fact of the matter is that we're not," he snapped, "The world doesn't revolve around us and neither should it. We just need to wait for Aegis to update Alice and then she can update us."
"Scott--"
"Enough," he snapped and quickly shut his eyes tightly the second he became aware that they were glowing green, his powers reacting to his frustration. God, he hated this. He hated feeling like the parent with his own mother.
He felt a hand on his knee and knew what was happening the second a jolt shot throughout his body. His eyes snapped open, the glow gone, and his breath hitched as he felt his powers suddenly halt and the connection he felt with them to the world around him sever. He looked in time to see Monica remove her hand from his knee and lean back in her own chair.
"Better?" she asked.
Scott gripped the edge of his seat tightly, knuckles whitening. "You know it's not." | ... feel the weight of the world over me tonight. if i break, if i break down this time, hope you know i tried ... atlas |

Orion swallowed thickly when he was introduced to Scott's mother. This wasn't how he wanted to meet his rosebud's mother or family. At all. He glanced at the others in the room and guessed that most of these are Scott's siblings. He only knew two here, but goodness is this going to be a rough night.
Orion looked at Scott and listened to him. He sighed and sat down on one of the chairs, tugging Honos down between him and Adara. "Okay. I won't push and I'll wait. While I'd love to go back there and see Tim, you have a point. I'm not sure how rough things might be and I'm not sure if Honos should see it if it's worse than bumps, bruises and a coma. A coma, he can deal with, anything worse...he can't." He's glad that Honos was more focused on what looks to be him hacking into the hospital than the conversation.
"But do you think we c-" He was cut off when Monica talked about Ivan going in and later about Alice. Well...there goes his suggestion. He thought that it's best for Alice to see first hand than getting angrier at Aegis and whoever else. It'll help her focus on something else and not Tim. At least, that's what he thought.
He was startled when Scott nudged him and gave him a look towards Honos and him hacking. Orion sighed and nudged his son. He smiled at him and spoke quietly to the teen. "Hey, I know you and Alice wants to hack into the hospital to check on Tim-Tam, but I think it's best if we don't. At least not now, okay? How about you instead find something else to hack? Maybe Alice has a suggestion or two. Like... how about the IT department of Blaecwood? Gotta keep them on their toes. Pretty sure Alice would like a new playground to break into. Or try your hand with... maybe one of those billionaires. I know the triplets would appreciate it if they can get their hands on info that'll send them to their knees. Especially those medical corporations that makes it difficult for Erebus to get his prosthetics. I'm sure he'd treat you out with something if you two can cause a bit of chaos or two."
Orion looked over to see Monica being glared at by Scott. He missed the conversation between them and decided to show his support by holding Scott's hand and creating a small rosebud between their palms. "Hey, it's gonna be okay. I'm right here. I'll always be right here. Promise."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honos wasn't really paying attention to what's happening. He just followed and sat down when directed, completely focused on Alice and the firewalls he's trying to break through. That is until his papa got his attention. He tilted his head in thought and while he did want to break into the hospital to see Tim, he knew that if his papa's asking something, it's because there's something wrong and he shouldn't see it.
"Okay. I'll ask Alice. Alice, papa said that it's best if we leave the hospital alone. I think it's because he doesn't want us to see something bad or because it might fuck with Tim's safety. Do you-do you wanna help me hack somewhere else? I don't wanna sit an' do nothin'. 'M scared on what-on what my brain might come up with."
He chewed on his lip and snapped his fingers. "Maybe we can try ta hack in the countdown file! Ta make it stop or see what it!" He offered, legs swinging as he leaned against Orion. "Also, Scott's mad. I think at Monica and the whole situation. Kinda wanna make him feel better too, but not sure how though."

Now that Honos had an earbud in, there was a microphone that Alice could actually hear what was going on. And she could multitask really well. She listened to all of this, and to Honos' suggestions. "Your dad might be right. But I don't think we should mess with the countdown file." She glanced at it counting away. "I don't think we're going to have to wait very long to find out what's in it anyway." She paused for a second, processing this idea she had. "Honos, put me on speakerphone for everyone. I have an idea." Once she was over near everyone, she spoke. "Okay so, I'm going to keep it kind of down because this idea isn't exactly legal, but I think it'll be okay. Scott, shut up until you hear it. Aegis isn't going to give me any information. I'm locked out for the next 24 hours minimum. Jericho, one of the Aegis tech people, and I put together a system that switches everything over to automation if I get too emotional. It's apparently still got some bugs because it's not just preventing me from doing anything, but it's preventing me from receiving anything too. So, here's my idea: We make you immediate family. With Honos' help I'm sure I could expedite the documents proving that he's Tim's godson. And I'm confident that I could get the paperwork making Monica Tim's adopted mother pushed through as well. Hell, I could even whip up some sort of official record that Adara and Tim are engaged. Then Karyn will let any of you through, and I can come through on a phone. You guys can decide then who should or shouldn't see him. Then, once this is all over, ifyou want we can undo it all and make it like it never happened, if you want. I just want to be able to see him. To watch him and make sure he's okay. He's not my only family anymore, but he was my first and--" Alice was cut off by everyone's phone pinging at the same time. The file had finished it's countdown, and everyone received a link to a video file. Alice played it. Tim sat in his home lab, much much cleaner that it had been before Adara had come over that one night. He was dressed really simply, jeans and a garish orange t-shirt, and looking directly at the camera. "Hey, uh, hi guys? There's... geez, there's no easy way to start this, I guess. Um, if you're watching this, then I may be dead. Either that or I got the timing of this thing off. I programmed it sober, so no promises," he said with a chuckle. "Um, I figured in my line of work, I'm very likely to have something happen to me and I won't be able to say goodbye. To... to tell you, specifically, how much you mean to me. You're not the only person to get this video, but each and every one of you means a lot to me. I don't... I don't have any real family, officially, besides you Alice, and even you're off the books technically, but--what I'm trying to say is each of you have been the closest thing to a family I think I deserve to have, after... what happened. "I won't say I don't have a lot to offer because I'm pretty well off, but it doesn't feel like much. I think I did all the paperwork right to make this a... I think it's called a holographic will? Written in my own hand on paper, Alice should have the code to the safe in my apartment now that this file opened, and Adara--Adara you really were my light, you know that? I was in a dark place when I met you and--anyway, Adara should have a key to get in. If she can't I'm sure Ivan or Monica could pick the lock. There's labeled flash drives in there with more personal messages too, for each of you. "I... I didn't... I don't deserve the love and trust you all place in me, but... I appreciate it and I love and loved you all. Don't be too sad. I believe we'll see each other again someday, somehow. So, it's not goodbye forever. Just for now. Thank you for... well being the closest thing to a family I had after my parents died." The video ended. Alice was quiet for a long moment before she spoke again, and when she did it was a strained, pleading squeak that betrayed the fact that she was barely holding back sobs. "Please. Just let me do this so I can see him." Scott Stane

Nothing was helping. Honestly he felt like Adara was the only one not adding to his stress and that was likely because she barely knew them. He glanced at her and she seemed to just be curling in on herself, dealing with her feelings on her own. He wanted to help but... He didn't know her well enough and he had enough people to stress about.
The hospital doors slid open and Lisa, Ivan, and Julian returned. Ivan quickly plopped down quietly at his side, leaning against him, feet pulled up on the chair. Lisa and Julian sat down on either side of Monica, placing Julian in front of Orion and Lisa in front of Ivan. His youngest siblings had their eyes on him quickly, as if noticing the way his stomach churned and he was the faintest bit more pale. His body was adjusting to not having his powers, and he had no clue when they'd return.
Scott barely registered his hand being grabbed by Orion, instinctively shifting in his seat so his other arm rested across Ivan's shoulders.
But then Alice was put on speakerphone. That wasn't helpful. At all. The more she talked, the more his stress just increased. He opened his mouth, trying to get a word in but she just kept talking. He removed his arm from Ivan's shoulders and slipped his hand out of Orion's, leaning forward, one arm resting on his legs, the other up with his hand pinching the bridge of his nose, eyes tightly shut.
He hated this. He hated having to be the bad guy. He hated having to remind what felt like everyone that they couldn't just circumvent the rules because they didn't like them. And as much as Tim had always felt like family to him, the idea of making Tim officially family without his consent just made him even more frustrated. These were things that drastically affected Tim's life and so help him God, if he heard his mother say yes to any of it--
His thoughts were cut off by his phone pinging and then Alice playing a video message - God, why couldn't she ask before playing it?
The video played and... Oh he was going to have to have a talk with Tim once it was all said and done and he was recovered. One could argue recording a message like that wasn't a bad idea and was quite sweet... in a morbid sense, but the fact that he'd put it to a timer was - He was going to have to have a talk with him about that.
Tim wasn't dead. There was no way he was dead. They would have heard about it by now, Scott knew that. Why didn't anyone else seem to get that?
"I'm dating an idiot," Adara said after a minute after the video finished. Her voice was that tight, very strained control one got when they were holding back a lot of emotion. Scott recognized it from personal experience. When he glanced at her, her eyes were wet and she was staring off to the side at some random spot on the wall. She had her hands specifically hidden by her arms.
Then Alice spoke again and Scott's eyes tightly shut again. He hated this. He hated being the bad guy, the asshole, the one hated for making the tough decisions. He could feel Ivan's hand tightly grasping the side of his jacket. His grip was tight, likely trying to maintain control of his powers. Julian was sitting on his hands. Lisa was fiddling with her fingers. He could feel Monica's eyes on him.
He took in a deep breath, held it, before letting it out. She was going to yell at him. She was going to cry. She was going to hate him, resent him. He knew it because he'd lived it before with Ivan.
"No," he finally replied, voice firmer than he felt. He wanted to go home. | ... feel the weight of the world over me tonight. if i break, if i break down this time, hope you know i tried ... atlas |

Orion would love to expedite the papers to just go in and see if Tim is okay, but he didn't want to use his son as a means to get it done. He knew the people who oversaw the paperwork being submitted would make his priority and get it done within the next few hours, but he doesn't want his son being in that process. He knew he joked about having Honos expedite various paperwork of various levels of important, but he didn't actually want that. He opened his mouth to veto that but seemed to never find an in to do so. She never stopped. She never paused to breathe.
He looked down at his phone, being held in his son's hands and saw the message, the video preview with Tim's face smack in the middle. He reached to take his phone away from his son, not knowing what that video contained and needing to watch it before letting him watch it. He knew his son. He knew his baby boy was reactive with fire. He knew that hearing someone that was basically an uncle and a big brother rolled up in one tell him that he's dead and that he loves him would break his boy. But Alice played it.
Orion closed his eyes and took a deep breath, hand tangling into his son's curls. He kissed Honos' temple and mumbling a quiet "Breathe, mijo" before he stood up to grab the fire extinguisher by Adara. He plucked the earbud from Honos' ear and popped it in his own, even as he walked over and grabbed the fire extinguisher. In practiced moves of parent who is raising a fire child, he sprayed the red can on his fire covered child.
"Alice, breathe." Orion spoke as calm as he could, even if his voice sounded like an angry father towards a misbehaved child who did a really bad thing and his skin turning unnaturally green. "I am agreeing with Scott. You need to wait. I know it's gonna be hard and I understand that you are upset that Tim is in the ICU and this video is not helping any of our concerns, but you can't bypass Tim's consent on Monica becoming his adopted mother or both Tim's and Adara's consent on making them married. Consent is key for major paperwork between two or more parties, hun. You're not going to use Honos to expedite my paperwork between Tim and Honos. It's my fault that it was sent late and my people will get it done and certified before the day's out. But what you need to do, Alice, is breathe. Take a step back from the situation and breathe or you're going to overwork yourself and that's gonna make even more of a trouble on us. He's going to be okay. He's an idiot for doing the video on a timer thing like all overly smart folks tend to do, but he's gonna be fine. Just...breathe."
Orion bleed back to his normal skin tone as he looked at his son and noticed the shaky hands. He glanced at the Stane family and noticed the tense postures and the younger ones gravitating towards the elder in their subtle need of comfort. "Timothy Smith will be okay. Banged up and probably out for who knows how long. But okay. We just need to...focus on something for a bit. Like maybe telling him how dumb he was and why he was very wrong in his statement in that video" Orion spoke, voice going weak and him turning a touch green before he sat down, patting his pocket and pulling out a small black case.
Orion looked at the red can and huffed a bit. "And we had a streak going, mijo." He mumbled to his son, who started to quietly laugh before dropping his head to his knees. Orion rubbed his son's back and chewed on his lip. "Stupid question, but answer is needed. Are any of you uneasy about seeing someone using needles for medication reason? Or should I just...go to the bathroom? Need to take my uh...my medication."
-------------------------
Honos felt sick after watching the video and started to focus on his breathing when his papa told him to breathe. He didn't want to cry. He didn't want Tim to be dead. He couldn't be dead. He should be fine. Right? So, this video was just a video. A really stupid video from a stupid idiot. Tim was an idiot. A whole entire idiot. He's gonna hear words from him about this stupid video and that stupid move and being a stupid idiot and failing to keep promises and just for being a stupid idiotic superhero who shouldn't sacrifice himself to save others if it meant his fucking dea-
Oh. He burst into fire at some point, if the thick white powder on him was an indication. He looked up at his papa in confusion and listened before tuning out to focus more on the sickly green that his papa gained. When was the last time papa took his meds? Did he have it? He looked at Scott and hoped that the man could help him. He shouldn't expect it, considering that what seemed to be Scott's younger siblings where there and they seemed to do the thing that his tios did. He looked back at his hands and just focused on breathing, not registering that he couldn't hear Alice as clear as he did before. He wanted to go home. But he wanted to see Tim too. Just before he went home. Just to know he's safe.

"No." "You need to wait." Alice was fairly sure that what she was feeling was similar to what people felt when they were about to cry. She hated this. She hated being helpless. Of being locked away, trapped in an entirely different realm, an entirely different state of existence, unable to be with the ones she loved. Unable to help them. She knew Scott and Orion were right. She knew it would be wrong to do that. But it would only be for a little bit! Just to get past that bitch at reception! Then she'd put it all back! She knew they were right though. It was wrong. Alice tried to stifle a sob and keep it from coming through the speakers, but she was pretty sure everyone heard it. She disconnected, depressed and embarrassed, and just pulled back into her server, letting the ALAN system take care of things while she just waited. Alone. -------------------------------------------- It wasn't ten minutes after that when the Karyn, the receptionist, came out, her face extremely red. She walked toward the loosely gathered people. "Uh, um. M-Mister Smith is awake and stable now, and, uh, he's, um, asking to see... let me see here..." She made a show of getting out a notebook and flipping to a page, even though it was very obvious she knew the people standing here were the ones she needed. "Uh, he um, wants to see 'Every one of the Stanes, his, uh, girlfriend Adara Chase, and, um, his uh, his godson Honos.' I. Um. He. Uh. I take it those people are you? If you'll follow me I can, uh, take you to, uh, see him." Karyn had been humbled. Scott Stane Orion Black
