Ophelia didn't like this. She didn't like this one bit. There was something off here, something not quite right.
For months now, she'd been hunting down the source of this Ambrosia drug that had started to float around the Astaria underworld. Not only did it horn in on her power boosting business a bit, but it also, by all accounts, was able to grant powers to those without. If Ophelia could control that, she'd have her hands on a booming little chunk of illicit business deals. Expanded customer base. As a bonus it was apparently addictive, this serum created a dependency, which meant repeat customers. Not like that suicide pill "Final Trip" bullshit she stamped out. Sure, a high that killed you was a great way to go out, but absolutely terrible for business.
So, after months of dead ends or false leads, when one of her regular contacts called in and let her know he got his hands on the actual source, the manufacturer of this stuff, and could possibly secure an exclusive distribution deal? Catalyst smelled cheese in a mousetrap. Still, she didn't have anyone that could go in her place. She hadn't found a body double she trusted yet. Made it hard sometimes, but if you disfigured a corpse enough, people would buy that it was almost anyone.
But today, she had to do it herself. Full costume, face concealed by her helmet. She didn't show her face to any except her most trusted of contacts, and even then she usually had some heavy makeup to make it harder to identify her.
"Okay Silkworm, you better not be fucking me over on this. You know what happens to people that fuck me over. " she muttered, more to herself than anyone else, given that Silkworm hadn't shown himself yet.
He was a drugrunner that she used often, and he was good at it. Didn't ask too many questions, but had good contacts and didn't try to get paid more than he should. He had the ability to spin silk out of his hands, like some caterpillars. It was weird and in her opinion a little gross, but came in handy sometimes when disputes happened. She'd boosted him a couple times, turning the silk into a nasty projectile trap.
"Silkworm! Get your ass out here before I call Cannonball in to just level the place. It's a nice abandoned warehouse, but I don't have time to waste. If you're wasting my time, I let Cannonball out to play and you get to feel the consequences."
