He wanted to talk about it.
He wanted to speak about it because...he had not and he was tired of it just being flashbacks and echoes and going on and he knew that his family knew that he had not processed it because what was grief? Stupid and it held you back so much and Micah did not want that so he went on with his life but still it was difficult here and there because while he was good, it did not mean that he did not need to talk about it to get it out.
"So, seems you've finally caught me huh?" he said as he turned to face Faye. "I mean I word it like that cause you know how I feel about the whole word thing but what I mean is that you finally came to talk to me and I think it's a bit past due right?"
"Well," she said as she looked at him. "I have never been one to interrupt anyone when their mind is made up because I know how headstrong that can make a person and honestly you know I worry about you the most but then I realized that the best part of you is doing, being true to yourself and i was no longer worried about you but the others."
She knew her kids and that was something that even if she did not like she had decided to just allow herself to accept. "Micah I need you to listen to me though and I know that you understand it but if you open this up, if you start talking about things you're going to have to tread carefully. People won't like what you have to say." She knew that all too well. "Maybe you should try just tip toeing around it a bit before fully opening and yelling it out."
Micah sighed. "I don't want to murmur. I want to speak and be heard and..I'm not scared because I was taught to always stand on my truth and that is exactly what this is. It is me standing on my truth, me standing on everything that I know and everything that I know you know and everything that Mallory went and forgot about herself when she did what she did. Besides I know that she's still hurting just like me and we have all been quiet long enough don't you think?"
Faye ran her hands through her hair because she understood but she also knew better now but when she was his age nothing would have stopped her. "Well do you want an answer with me as your mother or me as just a person because those are two different answers and emotions which to be honest right now I feel like yours are kind of teetering and that is never good."
"I'm not teetering, this is me. I don't do anger, I don't do sadness I just do me and right now me would like to talk. Isn't that what you taught me? Micah stand up for yourself, speak your mind, never let yourself be defined by anything?" He was indeed teetering as he turned and looked at her. Faye sighed and she finally spoke.
"No Micah, I taught you to be fair and to just let shit rest but you can't. No, no as a matter of fact it's not that you can not it's more like you do not want too." She could feel herself getting upset. "If you do this I know you know that you won't be the same." She liked him how he was now because he was awkward and adorable and to be honest hidden in the shadows where she knew that his ass needed to stay. "Micah don't do this, as your mother I just think that this is a bad idea."
"No worse than you going bat shit back in the day and leaving Ribbon and I to fend for ourselves right?" He shook his head. "Mom I love you but you don't exactly have a leg to stand on," he said as he leaned over and gave her a kiss. "Don't worry, I was actually created for this. See you soon," he said as he picked up his table and made his way out the door.
Micah knew that he did not follow through on a lot of things but he was going to follow through on this. He drove out about sixty miles and then stepped out and pulled out his table. It was going to be hard to get this damn thing sanded and done in time but he was going to. It was hot here too and he hated that as he came out of his shirt and the small bits of sun beamed down across his back. His tattoo was still there somehow shining a little extra depending on the angle that the sun came down on it from. He simply looked up and spoke.
"Sorry, but even as you know every thing happens right on time and as it should." Tables, sun, sand, time. "You bring the rest of the materials?" Shit, this was going to be hard but worth it. "Tables always turn, the sun always rises, the sands of time always flow right?" It was time for answers but first he had to build because this table was indeed going to make everything turn.
