Riley was so stoked. It had taken a while. And honestly, she hadn't even known she wanted it for the first few months she was in the states. But the day-in-day-out of missions for the Cabal or pretending to be an intern at the Institute, and then just going back to her quarters at said Institute, had gotten really really boring. Riley had chronically itchy feet. She couldn't keep still. Her idea of relaxing was to go cause some mischief somewhere.
So she'd begged. Pleaded. Bargained. And finally she had got Perses to agree to let her rent an apartment in Astaria. New experiences, new surroundings, and she was ecstatic.
She had to promise to give Perses her exact address, GPS coordinates if she could manage it. She had to be on time to any Institute or Cabal appointments, which was no problem. She had the speed to make it. On top of that all, she had to check in at the Institute every day, rain or shine.
All of this was perfectly acceptable to Riley. It just seemed like another part of the job to her.
She'd finalized the paperwork several days ago, and got her keys and apartment number, and today was move-in day.
Of course, she ran to the building. She didn't have a car. She didn't need a car. She was fast.
However, at the building she made herself walk to the apartment. She wanted to experience it. Take it in slowly, savor it.
Wasn't the door supposed to be closed? And, you know, locked? Shouldn't she have the only keys aside from the landlord?
"Hello?" She poked her head in and looked around, cautiously. The room seemed pretty bare, unfurnished, but she'd make some shopping trips to fix that soon. First though, she had to figure out why the door was open.
"Is anyone in here? I'm Riley Jackson, and I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be my apartment?"

[googlefont="La Belle Aurore"][googlefont="Old Standard TT"] Should I ask myself in the water What a warrior would do?
Kassandra finally had an apartment. She had been informed that living in a park was not something most people did. Aegis had helped her find a place to stay. She'd come here and been told that there were two bedrooms, and that they were the smaller rooms.
Of course they hadn't MEANT the closets. But that's where she was setting up a bedroll. It seemed a little claustrophobic to her. She didn't know that word, but she knew the feeling behind it. Feeling trapped in a smaller space. She heard the words from the entrance though, that was for sure. Kassandra rushed out into what was supposed to be the living room but was completely bare currently. She saw the other person and her eyes immediately narrowed. In a smooth motion, two swords came out from portals behind her hands. She took up her stance, which was an odd mix of defensive and offensive. The swords spread out behind her, and the stance was distinctly primal in both the way she was situated and how low to the ground her legs made her. Lower than what someone of her stature would normally be like, even.
"This is my apartment. I moved in today. Why are you here?"
Notes: Sorry for the wait. And Kas. Kas is not very good at greeting people.

Riley jumped backwards as a smallish woman suddenly barrelled out of... was that a closet? Why was she in a closet? Was this a test that Perses had come up with?
Well if it was a test she was going to ace it. She saw the swords come out of, well, pretty much nowhere. She could make that less of an issue.
"Okay whoa hold on a second." She was a blur, and an instant later the swords were sitting on the kitchen counter next to Riley, while she leaned casually against it, looking at the lease paperwork she had.
"Okay, now that there aren't weapons involved that could hurt someone, let's figure this out. Either you're mistaken, or there was quite the mixup when they were doing our paperwork." She pointed at the number on her documents. "See? Apartment 182. Which is this one. I'm supposed to be moving in today."
Riley seemed casual at first glance, but sharp eyes could see she was tensed and ready for whatever might happen next. This woman had pulled freaking swords on her as a first reaction, so Riley wasn't about to let her guard down. Still, nobody could say that her adventures with getting her own apartment weren't exciting.

[googlefont="La Belle Aurore"][googlefont="Old Standard TT"] Should I ask myself in the water What a warrior would do?
The woman before her was a blur for a moment and suddenly Kassandra's swords were gone. Nope. No she didn't like that. They were on the kitchen counter out of reach. She withdrew matching axes instead. Her stance was slightly different ready to crack skulls, but still primal.
"This is my home. I made sure. They told me I should live in a house instead of the park. Now. Who are you? Because whether you can take my weapons or not doesn't matter." She had plenty to use after all. Her axes were telling her to crack some skulls already. They wanted blood. Kassandra walked up close to the other woman and her nose curled up in a sort of face that said she wanted to snarl at this person. Invading her home? Not a fan.
"This is why you should have let me keep the swords." Her swords were calmer than her axes. Her axes thirsted for blood.
"My axes are bloodthirsty. Explain. I don't like people invading my home, even if it's a new home. It's been quite a long time since I had a home with a roof so I'm pissed that I have an invader already."

"Where the hell are you getting these weapons from?"
This chick was kinda nuts. Riley backed up, then zipped around to the other side of her. She didn't like being cornered. Riley didn't touch the weapons this time. The fact that she just had battleaxes out of nowhere after having swords out of nowhere was just a bit too weird, and Riley had a feeling that things would just... continue to pile up.
"Easy, shiela. I'm not invading. My name is on the paperwork here. I'm pretty sure of it, I did sign them quick but I'm pretty confident it was unit 182. Let's just put down the axes and whatever the hell else you have hiding... wherever you're getting those from, and figure this out. Do you have your paperwork around here somewhere?"
Riley was pretty sure there was just some sort of clerical error going on here. The question was, would they be able to figure it out without starting to get blood all over the carpet?
"I'm sure it's just some sort of mixup, and we'll get it all sorted. They might have thought we were going to be roommates or something. No big deal, I'm not trying to invade or screw with your stuff."

Kas heard the woman ask where she was getting the weapons from and she smirked slightly before shrugging in a surprisingly carefree way considering she was holding dual axes. Paperwork...paperwork. Kassandra wrinkled her brow trying to remember what the hell that was.
"What's that supposed to look like? It's probably here somewhere? This is definitely the place they said was my new home though so I don't know why you need a piece of paper to tell you when I'm right here telling you." She heard the woman say how she wasn't invading and or there to screw with her stuff and Kas rolled her eyes.
"Well first, I don't really have any belongings. And the only ones I do have you kinda already screwed with when you took my swords from me." She relaxed from the defensive position she was in. This woman didn't mean anything by what she was doing, Kas could tell. She didn't TRUST the person before her, but she thought it was probably okay to let this go for now.
"Not exactly sure what roommates are I'll be honest."

Riley held up the small stack of documents she had been carrying. "Looks like this. Says a bunch of stuff about what the rules are, whether or not you can have pets, how loud you're allowed to be after 10 PM, that sort of thing. Also says who exactly is on the hook for paying rent and will be living in the place, so that's what'll get us sorted out."
Who didn't know what roommates were? That was something that was pretty common knowledge, right? Riley gave her a quizzical look while she tried to explain. "Well, see, roommates are... well it's just what it says on the tin. Mates that room together. And honestly if that's what happened, and they put us on the lease together, I'd be willing to give it a shot. It'll be an adventure, sharing an apartment with a new friend. I'm Riley, by the way. Nice to meet you! Sorry about messing with our swords, they were just... well pointing at me and that was just sorta... yeah that... yeah I'm just going to say "sorry" and leave it at that. So, do you want some help trying to find your paperwork, or do you think you might have thrown it away?"
Riley started to thumb through her paperwork, trying to find any clues to what might have caused this mixup. She still had some boxes to bring over from the Institute, she wanted to get this figured out and settled!
