Their lips peeled apart, and hovering there, inches apart, staring into each other's eyes, there was no way to deny that Valentin was smiling. Julian said exactly what Valentin was thinking: more. Their mouths reconnected, sending a bolt of lightning through Valentin just as strong and disorienting as the first.
The moan that escaped Julian, sending Valentin's lips humming with the vibration, caused his grip on the other boy to tighten instinctively, a barb of much less wholesome desire pricking the chaste, soft cloud he'd been floating on. Julian's flushed face was brighter as he pulled away and Valentin tethered the strange fire in him to his self-control to resist pressing the attack.
"S-Sorry! You're uh - You're pretty good at that."
Valentin's lips, a little pinker than normal from their use, twitched in a crooked, ghost grin. The hand had been on Julian's nape and jaw had drifted down to his shoulder, and now the backs of his fingers gently brushed his throat.
"I... I want to keep kissing you."
Valentin's cold eyes, normally piercing and unnerving, were misted over with fondness. That fondness dipped dangerously toward hunger in that moment. He leaned forward, very keen on granting that request. Halfway there, though, he realized that Julian wasn't finished, and somehow managed to stop.
The hungry fog in his eyes cleared at the words. Valentin pulled back a little and stared down gravely into Julian's bashful eyes. The question being asked had struck a chord on his heartstrings and Valentin wondered how he had thought of anything other than Julian before that day. "I must be a good kisser," he murmured softly, preoccupied tracing the lines of Julian's blushing face with the pads of his fingers.
"I have never been a boyfriend," Valentin mused, still sounding distracted and distant, by his standards. "But... I could like to try." His ghost grin came back and now his eyes focused on Julian's again. That gentle hunger was back. Valentin wanted to know what the beautiful dimple in Julian's chin tasted like, so he pressed his lips thoughtfully to it. Looking up, his words a soft brush on the other boy's skin, he asked, impishly, "Now can we continue?" | . . . i see you here in the darkness, blinding light right where your heart is. if you're ready, i'll be waiting, heart is open, come find me . . . zagreus |

Julian grinned and let out a soft giggle when Valentin said he must have been a good kisser. "I bet you're the best," he said, leaning into his embrace, closing his eyes at the sensation of having Valentin's fingers against his face. He found the tracing the other man was doing soothing, comforting. He was certain if he'd been laying down, it could've lulled him to sleep. He found himself wondering what it'd be like to fall asleep in Valentin's arms.
His eyes fluttered open when Valentin spoke again. He wasn't sure he'd want to be his boyfriend, even if they'd just been making out and Valentin had earlier called him cute. He thought there was still a possibility the answer would be no. One could argue things were moving fast between them, after all. Possibly too fast.
While he found he didn't mind the speed, he wasn't sure if Valentin would. There was still so much Valentin didn't know about him - and he assumed it was most likely mutual. He didn't know he had three older siblings who were very protective. He didn't know his mom was intimidating beyond all belief. He didn't know he lived at the college's dorms with his best friend right now. He didn't know he was Vulcan.
But then Valentin's words reached him. Julian was grinning again, easily and excitedly. "It's rather easy," he explained, referring to being boyfriends. "We just hold hands - already did that - and kiss - definitely did that." His breath hitched as Valentin kissed his chin, his eyes threatening to shut again. "God, I'd say we're off to a good start already."
He shuddered at Valentin's question, at the tone, at the thought of kissing him again. "Please," he begged, the word a whisper off his lips. He leaned into the new kiss, body threatening to slip out of his own chair and onto Valentin's lap. He knew without any shadow of doubt that if Valentin pulled him, he'd gladly straddle his lap, forgetting that they were still technically in public, even if they had found a more secluded table.
Needless to say his latte was forgotten entirely. | ... IF YOU WERE DROWNED AT SEA, I'D GIVE YOU MY LUNGS SO YOU COULD BREATHE ... vulcan @valentin outfit357 words I like how they're dating now but haven't even exchanged phone numbers yet. 😂 |

Something deep and primal purred in contentment underneath his ribs when Julian said they could keep going. One of his hands slid to brace the back of the other boy's head, the second cupping his jaw and holding him dominantly. Valentin slowly closed the distance, relishing the heat he saw burning on Julian's cheeks, and the way he heard his breath thin.
They had just reconnected, Valentin closing his eyes gently, when a phone started vibrating.
Valentin froze. He pulled away, skin tingling at the way his and Julian's lips tugged at each other's when they peeled apart. "I'm sorry," he murmured, brows knitting in a frown - and he very much meant it. Taking one moment more to convey how sincere that apology was with his gaze, Valentin dropped the hand that'd been holding Julian's face. His other one didn't move, though, and his fingers began idly tracing through Julian's hair.
Pulling out his phone, Valentin had a brief conversation in Bulgarian before hanging it up. Once the screen went dark, he bowed his head, touching the phone to his brow and wincing. "I have to go to work," he said reluctantly, peeking with one eye around the device at Julian. "Another mechanic had to leave. I need to cover the rest of his shift. Just an hour or two."
Valentin lowered the phone. His hand skated around Julian's neck, down his shoulder, bicep, forearm, and rested on the back of his own hand. An idea sparked in Valentin's mind, brought on by the bone-deep desire to spend more time with the other boy. "You could... come with me? If you are not busy. I like your company." | . . . i see you here in the darkness, blinding light right where your heart is. if you're ready, i'll be waiting, heart is open, come find me . . . zagreus |

Valentin held him dominantly and Julian found himself aching in ways he hadn't known he could before. He was certain as their lips reconnected that he'd do anything Valentin asked him to and that he'd gladly let Valentin do anything to him. It was already different from anyone he'd been with in the past, any high school relationships not lasting long. He couldn't remember being so willing and so quickly be submissive with a partner before, even just romantically, than he found himself being with Valentin.
His eyes had just been starting to close when Valentin froze and then pulled away. He hadn't registered the phone vibrating, confusion coloring his features as his now boyfriend apologized. He remained where he was, curiously watching Valentin for a second before his eyes closed in content, enjoying the soothing touch of the other man's fingers still tangled in his hair. He admittedly felt like a cat about to start purring from being pet but considering the fact that none of his siblings were around to notice and tease him, he didn't mind at all.
Julian's eyes opened, curiosity still in them, when he heard Valentin speaking with someone in Bulgarian. He added Valentin speaking Bulgarian to the list of things he quite liked the sound of, including how he said his name. He wasn't trying to eavesdrop but he was right there. It helped that he didn't understand a word spoken.
His curiosity turned into concern after the phone call ended, noticing the way Valentin winced. He reached out, resting a hand gently against his boyfriend's knee, silently wanting him to know that whatever was wrong, he could talk about it - and he did. Julian couldn't help feeling a pang of disappointment - as well as becoming quite aware that he and his new boyfriend hadn't even exchanged phone numbers yet; whoops - when informed that Valentin would have to go to work.
He couldn't keep the disappointment off his face, glancing down at his own knees, so close to Valentin, his body almost hanging out of his seat. He didn't know what he'd do, considering he was supposed to be in class. They could make plans to meet up after Valentin's shift but he had no clue how he'd pass that time. Perhaps he could go to the gym and practice his fencing. He had a tournament coming up after all.
Julian was looking at Valentin once again when the other man's hand moved. He'd earlier said he could watch Valentin work some time, get shown the ropes by him and he'd mainly meant it as a flirt and also a wish because the idea of watching Valentin bend over a car to work on its engine was something he needed in his life. The actual suggestion made his face burn hot because he was still very much trying to picture that in his head.
"I'm busy with you," he pointed out, leaning forward and up because his boyfriend was quite taller than him to softly press his lips against Valentin's. He couldn't help grinning against those lips. "But I'd love to." | ... IF YOU WERE DROWNED AT SEA, I'D GIVE YOU MY LUNGS SO YOU COULD BREATHE ... vulcan |

Valentin's question, for some reason, made Julian flush. And although the color flooding his cheeks enflamed all kinds of longing emotions in Valentin, part of him worried that they were because he was uncomfortable with the proposition. Those burgeoning worries were smothered by Julian's forest green eyes sparking slyly.
Julian closed the distance, kissing Valentin again, and a hum of contentment rose from his chest. Not only from the kiss, but from the agreement. That meant he wouldn't have to say goodbye - even temporarily - to Julian. Not yet. Escaping that time apart made Valentin more happy than he had expected it to.
"No more kissing, then," Valentin said, hypocritically between kisses. He pulled away from Julian and smiled that ghostly, half-smile at him. "Or you'll make me late."
- - - - -
More because he wanted to than it being the thing romantic couples did, Valentin captured one of Julian's hands in his and held it the entire way to the garage. On the way, they rosily exchanged more details about one another that most people knew before agreeing to date someone exclusively: surnames, phone numbers, and on.
Once at the shop, he introduced Julian to his cousin, Damyan, who owned the business. Damyan quirked a brow when Valentin - not blinking an eye or shifting his characteristic, grim expression - named Julian his boyfriend. But that was it. In English, Damyan told him to hurry to work, and warned him jokingly that Julian's presence better not interfere with his work.
In Bulgarian, as Valentin lead Julian out of the office, Damyan added, "Well done. You two look good together."
Valentin shrugged on his faded charcoal grey jumpsuit over his clothes and guided Julian to the furthest and most secluded station in the garage: his work area. A car was already waiting for him, and Valentin snatched the clipboard with its information from the hood to peruse while he gestured to a stool nearby that Julian could perch on. | . . . i see you here in the darkness, blinding light right where your heart is. if you're ready, i'll be waiting, heart is open, come find me . . . zagreus |

Julian admittedly sneaked some kisses on the way to Valentin's work, placing soft kisses to the back of the other man's hand then looking away as if he mischievously hadn't just done that. Though he also tried to watch closely to see Valentin's reaction, fully aware that they didn't know as much about each other as people typically did when they started dating. He knew it was rare that rushing into something paid off but it was a risk he was willing to take.
He felt a sudden pang of nervousness when he was introduced to Valentin's cousin, Damyan, and his face became flushed when Valentin so matter-of-factly and without any awkwardness stated they were boyfriends. Julian dipped his head, feeling shier than he could ever remember feeling before. He hung at Valentin's side, making a mental note that despite Damyan's joking tone, he probably shouldn't distract Valentin from his work. He didn't want to get him in trouble after all.
He noted Damyan say something to Valentin in Bulgarian - It was hard to miss. Judging by the way Valentin didn't seem to get upset, he guessed it wasn't his cousin's way of trying to show disapproval without Julian finding out. Still he found it as just another reason to try to learn the language.
Watching Valentin put his jumpsuit on, Julian's mind couldn't help wandering to what he'd look like just wearing that with nothing underneath. Julian pulled his gaze away and moved to perch on the stool, certain that no one had managed to make him blush so much in one day as his new boyfriend was so far.
He could sense all the metal in the garage without even trying to. The tools, the cars, each of their individual parts, and the metal that held the garage together as well as any worn by the mechanics. Even the metal on the clipboard. He reached a hand up, trying to be subtle as he rubbed at his temple, wincing faintly. He needed to get better control of this part of his powers, he decided because the headache sensing and being aware of so much brought wasn't fun.
He put his hand down the second he thought Valentin's eyes would go on him, not wanting to worry him. After all he figured finding out your superpowered boyfriend didn't have complete control over said powers wouldn't be comforting.
"You look cute," he said, nodding to the jumpsuit and hoping to focus his own mind on Valentin instead of the metal all around them. | ... IF YOU WERE DROWNED AT SEA, I'D GIVE YOU MY LUNGS SO YOU COULD BREATHE ... vulcan @valentin outfit423 words Let me know if you need more. ❤ |

Valentin, as is common in quiet, introspective and thoughtful people, was highly observant. Generally so, but especially when it came to things and people that he had a genuine interest in. So, when Valentin looked over to Julian, despite the adorable smile and cheeky compliment - even if both fed that strange animal in Valentin's chest he hadn't known existed before meeting the other boy - he saw something.
There was something clouding Julian's eyes that Valentin hadn't seen before so far in their time together. His lips twitched upward faintly at one corner in thanks for the comment. Mostly, though, Valentin was trying to tamp down an irrational protectiveness that was surging up his throat at the thought that absolutely anything might be wrong with Julian.
Soundlessly, he stepped aside. He moved to what ended up being a mini-fridge, though it was so caked with dust and grim on the exterior, and piled high on top with tools and parts that it'd been unrecognizable before then. Opening it, Valentin pulled out a bottle of water, deftly twisted it open and handed it to Julian. "Drink." It wasn't a suggestion.
Valentin hovered there watching him - savoring the way tendons stood out in Julian's neck, and his Adam's apple bobbed with each swallow. "And thank you," he added when Julian was twisting the cap back on. Satisfied, for now, Valentin set about getting to work. He kept an eye on Julian, and a running dialogue.
Soon, he'd called his boyfriend over to more clearly show and demonstrate what they were talking about. Conversation, by Valentin's standards, had been strangely easy to come by with Julian from the start. Minutes wore on, though, and that conversation came more and more effortlessly.
Almost before they knew it, the two boys were interrupted by Damyan. "Shift's over. You're free," he called from halfway down the garage.
Valentin turned to Julian and looked down. He, personally, was smeared with oil and grease up to his elbows, but Julian's hands were thoroughly dirtied from helping, too. "Come. You need to wash up." Valentin lead the way to a small utility room at one end of the garage and turned on a faucet in the sink there. He squeezed some dish soap - the only thing that really cut through mechanic-related messes - onto Julian's hands and made room so they could both share the sink. | . . . i see you here in the darkness, blinding light right where your heart is. if you're ready, i'll be waiting, heart is open, come find me . . . zagreus |

Julian arched an eyebrow as he watched Valentin, not realizing that there was a fridge there until it was opened. He honestly wasn't sure what he'd thought that was. His eyes had simply glossed over it. He blinked, confused as a water bottle was suddenly presented to him and he wasn't asked whether he wanted it but rather just told to drink it. A mixture of stubbornness and curiosity welled up within him. The stubbornness came from being the youngest of four siblings with three older always trying to tell him what to do. The curiosity came from the need to know his boyfriend better, wondering what Valentin would do if he refused.
But those also warred with the fact that he found it quite attractive when the other man gave him an order - something he'd never found attractive in anyone else before. The attraction won out and he found himself drinking the water, eyes on Valentin as his boyfriend watched him. He found the more Valentin looked at him, the more he liked the intensity of his stares.
He set the bottle to the side when he was done with it, easily falling into the conversation with Valentin, occasionally drifting off into silence as he just watched the other man work, only to blink back to reality and out of his staring, face red, each time Valentin noticed. He eagerly got out of his seat when Valentin asked for him to come over.
Julian quickly focused on the task at hand, paying attention to what Valentin was showing him and explaining to him - after all he wanted to have a job like this one day. He barely noticed when his arms or legs would brush up against Valentine's, focused more on the car. He hadn't noticed the time go by, caught in conversation with Valentin. After being told they were free, he glanced around to make sure no one except his boyfriend were watching before using his powers to guide the tools back where he'd seen Valentin retrieve them from.
He followed Val to the sink, skipping at one point to catch up with his pace. He caught the soap with one dirty hand and with the other, taking advantage of Valentin's current focus, poked the top of his boyfriend's nose, leaving a spot of grease with a "Boop!" and a laugh.
He washed his hands then leaned slightly back against the sink as he dried his hands, eyes on Val. "There's a fencing tournament at the college this Saturday," he said suddenly. So far he'd told Val about his family, being the youngest of four siblings - an older sister and two older brothers - and that his mother worked for the FBI, and he'd told him about living at the college's dorm with his best friend, Shane. But he hadn't mentioned the sport he played.
"You should come," he added, smiling at his boyfriend. His smile turned shy as he admitted, "I uh - I'm competing in it." He set the towel he was using to dry aside and reached a hand to brush his fingers against Val's. "It'd mean a lot if you'd be there." | ... The playful "boop" was such a small thing, really. But Julian couldn't possibly know how much it meant to Valentin. His eyes widened in surprise at the smear of grease tapped onto his nose, then his lips faintly spread in a disbelieving smile.
Valentin was well aware of his personality and the vibes he put off. He didn't begrudge anyone for being uncomfortable, wary or intimidated around him. But Julian wasn't. In fact, he was so much the opposite that, just hours after they met (sudden dating notwithstanding), the other boy was... Teasing him.
Julian kept washing his hands. He didn't see the surprise in Valentin melt into adoration as he watched his boyfriend. On autopilot, still much too distracted by the emotions that Julian was so effortlessly pulling out of him, Valentin washed up.
The other boy's voice broke through his rosy haze. He looked up, quirking one serious brow while he scrubbed the grease spot off his nose. Valentin's signature, faint, crooked smile made another appearance - as easy as breathing around Julian. His boyfriend's fingers brushed his hands right as he was finished drying them.
"I'll be there," Valentin said, tone deathly serious. He looked around warily, then smoothly closed the distance between him and Julian. Valentin reached up and with both hands cupped Julian's face, leaning down the several inches of difference between them to capture Julian's lips with his own.
Valentin kissed him slowly and thoughtfully. When he finally pulled back, he smiled in as close to slyness as he came. "I'm sorry. I couldn't wait anymore." Valentin reached up with one thumb to trace Julian's bottom lip reverently. "What would you like to do now?" he asked. And deep down, somehow Valentin knew that whatever it was Julian wanted, he'd happily do. | . . . i see you here in the darkness, blinding light right where your heart is. if you're ready, i'll be waiting, heart is open, come find me . . . zagreus |

He wondered if Valentin even liked sports, if he'd find fencing interesting or would be bored. He thought maybe it'd been unfair to specify it'd mean a lot to him - That had potential to put pressure on his new boyfriend and make him feel obligated to go even if he didn't want to. But then Valentin agreed and Julian didn't think he was lying.
He was already grinning as Valentin's hands rested on his face, dark green eyes staring up as he watched Valentin close the distance between them. He hummed contently at the kiss, hands resting against the other man's hips. He couldn't help letting out a soft giggle at Valentin's comment afterwards, commenting himself, "I like when you're impatient."
He liked how that smile looked on his boyfriend. He liked the spark of mischievousness he thought he saw there. His hands moved to Valentin's chest, punching the fabric of the jumpsuit beneath his fingers. "I think you should take this off first," he said, a teasing tone to his voice. His hands moved to the front buttons as he spoke, eyes on the other man, cheeks flushed. "Not that the dirty mechanic look isn't hot on you - It is."
Julian undid enough buttons to slip his arms in, moving closer so his body pressed up right against Valentin's. His arms wrapped around his torso, hands clasped together behind his back. He rested his chin against Valentin's chest so he could still look up at the other man.
He didn't really care if anyone walked in on them because this was what couples did, right? He didn't think snuggling up and flirting with his boyfriend was something that needed to be kept private. Even if he was very aware of every spot Valentin's body rubbed against him when either of them moved even the littlest bit.
"I can help you with it," he offered, smirking cheekily up at him. "Then we can go get something to eat - My treat." | ... IF YOU WERE DROWNED AT SEA, I'D GIVE YOU MY LUNGS SO YOU COULD BREATHE ... vulcan @valentin outfit330 words Sorry about the wait! ❤ |
