“Fine. I’ll walk out there and we can both be fucked. Will that make you happy, asshole?” Nyx scowled back at Jaina. Her anger was bubbling again. This kid was good at pushing buttons. Nyx was just trying to keep the dumb kid safe from Caren and all she was getting was shit. The small amount of guilt she had felt for tearing up Jaina’s things and killing her was starting to diminish quickly.

Nyx ground her teeth a bit at Jaina’s last statement. She had been taught since the day she was born that she was a monster… some unholy thing… Hell, she shouldn’t have been born in the first place. It was an accident. She was an accident only good for brutal murder. She’d left mauled corpses in her wake since she was eight years old… and for what? To escape? Her entire existence was a living hell some doctors had cooked up in a lab. She wasn’t a bitch just because someone else was a bitch. She was born a fucking demented bitch. She was literally created just to kill people. She never had a choice in the matter to begin with. She was cursed to be a bitch the moment they realized there were two of them. She was a fucking monster. That’s all she ever was. She’d realized that fully the day she found Allyson’s rotting corpse hanging in a tree.

Jaina sighed and pulled out her knife, walked back over to Nyx, and started cutting the ropes.

“Do whatever the hell you want. I don’t care anymore. I was just trying to be nice and help out someone who needed it but fine. Wanna be a bitch, be a bitch, do whatever. Just—“

Jaina paused, hating the implied weakness asking the next thing would give. But she couldn’t just leave her.

“Please don’t ruin my jacket or Stitch. They’re… they’re all I have left. They’re my Lil.”

She went and curled up in her corner again, back to Nyx, just waiting for the inevitable spike of pain or something. This served her right, she figured. Helping people and being nice only brought her suffering.

“Oh so you’re allowed to be ‘nice’ but fuck me if I try to keep you away from Caren.” Nyx rolled her eyes at Jaina and slowly stood up.

Nyx wrapped the ropes around only one of her hands. She picked up all of the cinderblocks Jaina had used to hold her down. She walked over towards Jaina and set them back down in front of her. “If I wanted to I already would have.”

Nyx walked around Jaina and began trying to secure the hole in the wall. She was clearly trying to stay behind things carefully securing some pallets in the way. Next she began finding whatever else she can, boxes or newspaper even to try and cover up any windows, removing any opening for anyone to see inside.

Once she finished all that and is comfortable that the area was more secure and nobody will easily see them inside she took a seat one of the cinderblocks. She’s clearly a bit on edge, partly because of the annoying kid, but mostly because of whoever is hunting her. She proceeded to nonchalantly take her shirt off and take stock of any injuries. The worst mainly being a recently stitched up area in her side. Some of the stitches are torn and she kind of casually picked pieces of them out of the wound.

Of course. Of course she wasn’t restrained by what Jaina did. Jaina and everything she tried to do were useless.

“I don’t matter. I always come back. It doesn’t fucking matter what happens to me. I come back. I reset. You don’t. Other people don’t. Don’t worry about me.”

She rolled over and looked at what Nyx was doing and moving stuff around, making a mental note she’d have to uncover all the windows and shit when Nyx left. She liked the light.

“I don’t have any shit to keep that from getting infected. The Factory can heal it. They heal everybody and everything, no questions asked, no reporting to anybody.”

“I know they don’t. I’ve killed and buried enough with my bare hands.” Nyx flung some blood off her hands and began looking around the building. Trying to find something she could makeshift to close the wound up again. “Maybe it matters to me. So would you shut the ever-loving fuck up already?”

Nyx chuckled at Jaina’s suggestion, wiping the remaining blood onto her pants and continuing her search. “I’d rather fucking die. Only person who can and ever will fucking touch me with that shit is Caren… and the only reason she can is she has enough fucking drugs to take down an elephant.” Nyx angrily kicked some junk out of her way.

“Why do you give a shit anyhow? You’ve seemed pretty pissed at me. I don’t why you’d fucking care.” Nyx paused, taking stock of everything she’s moved around. There wasn’t much.

She turned back to eye Jaina. “Do you have a match or a lighter or something? Or whatever you used to stitch that thing back together? Anything at all?”
