Feivel Kozlov stood proudly on top of his latest machine as he ran his little mouse paws one more time over the different wires and bolts, making sure everything was secure. The idea for this machine had struck Feivel one night, as he was lamenting his inability to travel far in his mouse form. It took too long running on the ground, but in the sky? The possibilities were endless. So he bought a drone -- in human form, of course, he couldn’t exactly make transactions as a mouse -- and had spent his free time fiddling with it, creating a tiny seat while fitting the remote control to the top, and making them more accessible for him as a mouse. It took him awhile, his eyesight had never been good, even as a human and he had to carefully adjust and move wires accordingly. It was finally complete! As Feivel hit the “ON” switch and started to guide the drone out the window, he felt a rush of excitement and nerves. The wind blew through his whiskers, causing them to twitch, and it ruffled his fur. “C’mon… c’mon…” he muttered to himself as his paws quickly moved over the controls. He let out a shout of joy as the drone rose higher and higher into the sky. Feivel felt his stomach churn as he got a handle on steering; the sharp drops and spinning didn’t help. Feivel squinted at the air, he couldn’t see, everything was a blur, but he could hear and smell the city below, and he tried to stay on course (he wanted to go to the park, where it would be less dangerous if he fell). Feivel felt his blood run cold as he narrowly missed hitting a street light. He had walked to the park many times, in both human and mouse form. But he soon grew to realize that being blind and walking was not the same as being blind and flying. Nevertheless, Feivel stuck to the route he had planned, he at least knew the direction he was supposed to be going. He sniffed the air, letting out a held breath as he realized he had made it to the park. Thank goodness, he thought, as he flew around. I actually made it! My drone worked! That relief and excitement was short lived, however, as he almost immediately crashed into a tree. He had been so focused on memorizing the streets he was going to follow, he forgot to take into account the trees that littered the park. Feivel felt his heart stop as his drone made a crunching sound as it smacked into a branch, and Feivel had a brief moment of feeling weightless, before plummeting to the ground below. “Ow… ow ow ow…” He muttered as he pulled himself from the wreckage. His body ached, but it didn’t feel like he broke any bones, thankfully. He slowly started poking around the drone, touching it with his paws, trying to figure out what was broken and what needed to be fixed. He cursed as the drone let out a few sparks. Feivel suddenly froze. Whiskers and nose twitching, he smelled the air. His mouse instincts had alerted him when he recognized the smell -- dog. He spun around and the smell grew stronger, two of them, and far too close for his liking, he could hear their growls and barks, and their hot breath drawing nearer. He scrambled back into the trunk of the tree, terrified. Dogs could literally snap him in half, but he couldn’t just leave the drone, too!!

"PEPPER! PATCH! Let's go!" Quill's voice shouted throughout the house as he stood at the door, leashes in hand but his dogs no where to be seen. He huffed, waiting to see where they'd be but as he stood there he shook his head. "Fine, two can play at that game."
Quill took off to the pantry to the right where he had specially placed his dogs food, equally as much space as he had on a regular basis and reached for the treats in the bag that Pepper would do a flip for and the only way he'd be able to get Patch to play fetch. The moment he had the bag in his hand and the sound of the crinkled plastic, footsteps bound through the house.
"That's more like it. You treat mongrels..." He gave a light chuckle, when the both of them bumped into his, their heads tilted up with smiles and tongues salivating for the taste of the treats before Quill held out a hand with his finger up. "Not until we are in the car, kids. Just like normal."
He felt Patch against his leg, and he instinctively scratched her head. She pressed her head against Quill’s symboling her need to be close. That in turn made Quill stoop down and bend to his knees to look at her and press his forehead against hers.
“I know you wanna stay but being out in the sunlight is good for you and you know you always have fun at the park. We can play. Ball. Frisbee. No leash. Free. Okay?” Quill nuzzled her nose with his own before standing and looking at Pepper with a look of utter jealousy.
“What? Come on - do you want me to treat you like a baby, too? Come on! Car time!” Quill opened the door shaking the treats and pressed the button the trunk before it opened automatically only to have two large dogs dive in.
At the park it seemed like any other time. Leashed for the more public part of the park but off the beaten path, he knew a good field where there was hardly any people that come across it and as he reached it, the leashes were unhooked and he watched his two dalmatians run off joyfully, barking at each other, biting playfully at the other while something caught his eye from the sky. Some kid must have been playing with their airplane and for a few seconds, he watched amused at it before something happened.
The direction of the drone went straight into the tree and Quill’s attention was bored after that. However, Pepper noticed it all too quickly as the drone’s raucous brought him flopping over to investigate. “Pepper! Don’t! Ah, come on- not you too Patch.”
Their barks and playfulness turned to something else and he could feel the agitation and see it in their movements. Something caught his attention when the mention of ‘food’ came. Shaking his head, he ran over to where they were starting to dig at something against the tree.
“No! Don’t do that. What do you have - Drop it! Leave it!” Quill pulled on both of the dog’s collars and leased them and turned to see the little creature quivering at the tree. “Hey.. It’s okay little guy. They are good dogs. You’re okay -”
Quill’s voice whispered out as he pulled on his two dogs and got their attentions. His eyes peering into theirs until both Pepper and Patch finally laid down, no longer interested in the creature that Quill kept an eye on. He turned to the little mouse, holding out his hand to it. “I won’t hurt you. My dogs don’t have manners… are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
He wondered all too wildly if the mouse’s language would be similar to his dogs and if its emotions would be conveyed correctly. He bent down hoping to pick it up.
Food. Squeaky toy. Words came to him, visions of a morsel in his mind before he turned to the mouse.
“Sorry about my dogs. That’s Patch and Pepper. They really mean you no harm.” Quill looked at the downed drone and shook his head. “Damn kids - always being mean to animals. I swear - I’ll find them and they better be sure their parents better have a good lawyer-”

Feivel cowered against the tree, heart pounding as he felt the dogs’ claws scratching around him. He tried to curl up and make himself as small as possible, desperately attempting to avoid being hit by the dogs. Feivel whimpered as he tried to burrow into the dirt, the smell of dog and the sound of their barks and whimpers filling his senses.
Feivel was barely aware that someone, a human, was talking, until the scratches around him had died down. He slowly uncurled himself, still shaking heavily from adrenaline and fear, not calming down until he could smell that the dogs were farther away, behind the man. Feivel snorted, sure, they were such good dogs, he thought sarcastically. Almost killed him.
His nose twitched again, and he tried to get a read on the person in front of him. He seemed calm, and he somehow got the dogs to stop attacking him. He smelled dog treats on his hand, which made the mouse part of him hungry, and the human part a little disgusted that he wanted to eat them, but he realized that he must be the dogs’ owner. Feivel hesitantly moved closer to the hand, sniffing it, but didn’t crawl onto it just yet.
He was still very scared, the threat of almost dying still very present. Feivel had to take a moment to calm down, but his airplane excursion ended up way worse than he had planned. What if the man hadn’t gotten to him in time? What if he was swallowed whole by those big dogs? He shuddered to think about it.
Feivel ignored the man’s questions, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to understand him anyway. At least he didn’t seem like he was going to try to squash and kill him, like a lot of people tried to do.
“‘Don’t mean me any harm’, sure. They fully tried to eat me.” He couldn’t help but snort as the man talked, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to understand his mouse-y squeaks. He sighed, knowing he was being a bit unfair. The man did save his life, after all. He wished he could show him thanks, but he knew if he did anything un-mouselike then he would know that Feivel wasn’t exactly a real mouse. So, he settled for just squeaking out. “Uh, thanks for the help, though. I really could have died!” Even though he couldn’t understand, at least it was the thought that counts.
Feivel nudged the man’s hand, to hopefully show him he was fine, then turned back to his drone. He paused before he started poking at it, realizing that it would be incredibly suspicious if he started trying to repair it right away. Much beyond the capabilities of a normal mouse. So he just settled by the drone, and the man’s hand, waiting for him to leave him alone. Though Feivel was glad he was kind and seemed to care about animals, he really didn’t want him to try to take him to a vet or anything. That would be incredibly awkward. A brief worry flashed through him, he didn’t want the man to find out the drone belonged to him, Feivel Kozlov, either! It would be incredibly ironic if he thought that he was cruel to animals.

His dogs had no manners and it wasn't something that he could really instill in them. They were beasts, all the same, although a bit more behaved than normal dogs, that was for sure. Even to the point that their prey drive was turned off the moment he got in touch with them on a more personal level. A dog whisperer had nothing on him and being a wildlife entrepreneur as well, he had the complete advantage of the situation.
This tiny creature, the butt of someone's prank to fly a mouse, was scared to death, shaking like a leaf. If only there was something he could do to help and he did what he could by taking away the threat. Surely, in a matter of moments, the fight or flight mode would kick in and he'd run off but oddly enough, he stayed longer than expected. Quill raised an eyebrow at the mouse's sudden attitude he felt. A disgruntled word or two playing in his mind about eating him and sarcasm?
"That's not normal..." He whispered, inspecting the creature a little more. Something that sounded or resembled his dog's appreciation for good came up.
"You're welcome, little mouse." He spoke, understanding the squeaks after a few moments. "I'm sorry - I did try to stop them. You are fine though, I hope." A moment later, the mouse nudged his finger and Quill immediately tapped it on the head in mock gesture of petting him. Mice never really let him get close enough to have a chat with them or even touch them for that matter. Perhaps it's the fact that this one might even be domesticated which would explain the fact that he had been strapped to a drone.
Again, anger fueled his heart and he wanted nothing more then to make the kids, or lord forbid an adult, pay for what they did to the innocent creature. As he watched the mouse eye the drone, it made him wonder slightly if the owner would be looking for it. "You know, it would be a shame if the owner never found the drone or the creature attached to it." In a manner of being a good animal lover, he reached down capturing the mouse in one fluid movement into his hand, while aiming for the drone next. "You'll have a better home with me - I won't treat you like shit."

Feivel focused on the drone, trying his best to ignore the man above him. He still was on edge from the dogs, and he wished the owner would take them away, and let him do his work. His whiskers twitched in surprise when the man seemed to.. Respond? To his squeaks, saying ‘you’re welcome’ to his ‘thank you’.
But that couldn’t be right. Regular people couldn’t talk to mice, though he guessed people did live in a world with powers… how rare would that be though? Feivel dismissed those thoughts, concluding that the man probably was just talking to himself or something. Weird, but ultimately harmless.
Feivel’s heart softened a bit when the man apologized, it was a park after all, Feivel should have expected dogs to be there. And he did save him! So he tolerated the head pats, even though he fought rolling his eyes. He wasn’t a pet!
Feivel’s eyes narrowed as the man talked about the owner of the drone never finding it, what was he planning? He let out a squeak as he suddenly found himself being picked up. His stomach dropped, air rushing around him as he was filled with panic.
“Ah! What the hell! Put me down!” He squeaked out, his mouse voice incredibly shaky. Fear coursing through his veins, he felt his heart skip a beat when the man talked about keeping him. Not sure to do, Feivel did the first thing he thought of, and he sunk his surprisingly sharp teeth right into the man’s hand.
